Wikipedia: The great hornbill (Buceros bicornis), also known as the concave-casqued hornbill, great Indian hornbill or great pied hornbill, is one of the larger members of the hornbill family. It occurs in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is predominantly frugivorous, but also preys on small mammals, reptiles and birds. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2018. It is known to have lived for nearly 50 years in captivity. Due to its large size and colour, it is important in many tribal cultures and rituals. The Government of Kerala declared it as the official Kerala state bird.
The great hornbill is a large bird, 95–130 cm (37–51 in) long, with a 152 cm (60 in) wingspan and a weight of 2 to 4 kg (4.4 to 8.8 lb). The average weight of 7 males is 3 kg (6.6 lb) whereas that of 3 females is 2.59 kg (5.7 lb). It is the heaviest, but not the longest, Asian hornbill. Females are smaller than males and have bluish-white instead of red eyes, although the orbital skin is pinkish. Like other hornbills, they have prominent "eyelashes"
The great hornbill is native to the forests of India, Bhutan, Nepal, mainland Southeast Asia and Sumatra.

Le bacinet (ou bassinet ou bascinet) fut le grand remplaçant du heaume à partir du XIV° siècle et jusqu'au XV° siècle. Il fit son apparition au début du XIV° siècle, alors sans ventail mais avec un col de mailles. Les chevaliers partant charger à cheval mettaient alors par dessus le bacinet un grand heaume pour plus de protection. La visière, mobile, est apparue dès 1320.
Il fut fort répandu dans la chevalerie du milieu du XIV° siècle au milieu du XV° siècle . Le gros avantage de ce casque par rapport au heaume est sa visière articulée et pointue ou bombée, permettant une respiration plus facile.
A partir des années 1420, il fut remplacé progressivement par la salade
Le bacinet se caractérise par un timbre (le sommet du casque) ovoïde et pointu et le plus souvent vers l'arrière. Cette forme est parfaite pour dévier des coups d'épée ou de lance. Quant au mésail ou ventail (Partie articulée qui protége la face), il peut avoir plusieurs formes:
Pointu (On parle alors de bec de passereau). Ce type de casque était fréquent dans le dernier quart du XIV° siècle. A noter que souvent, sur ce genre de mésails, il y a plus de trous de respiration à droite qu'à gauche, car le côté droit est moins exposé aux chocs...
Cônique (Cette fois, on parle de bacinet à tête de chien). Ce type était fréquent au premier quart du XV° siècle.
Les premiers bacinets protégeaient le cou des chevaliers grâce à un camail assemblé depuis des trous faits sur les bords du bacinet (Des fois, des attaches étaient associées à ces trous: On les appelle alors vervelles). Au XV°, ce système fut remplacé par un gorgerin métallique. Le bacinet fut alors appelé grand bacinet.
