blue spots are a feature of some male slowworms but the males of some legged lizard species also have blue spots, in this case ventrolaterally. Whether females use their intensity to judge the fitness of a potential mate I have no idea!

Portobello Road - London

After years of Lehigh Valley heritage ES44AC #8104 eluding me in the middle of the night, passing in trail, or parked under cloudy skies, I finally caught up to the most elusive (for me) unit on the roster. Here, she blasts through Carpenter, IL on the nose of 31N, bound for Terminal Railroad's Madison yard in Venice, IL, with a setout for the Alton & Southern at Mitchell.

A lucky day in which I headed north after lunch not knowing if this unit would come south out of Decatur to St. Louis, or head west to Kansas City. I made it to Raymond where I thought I'd get word one way or the other, just in time to hear the detector south of Raymond go off. Just in case, I commenced a spirited chase back south to get a look at the power and finally caught up with the head end just north of Staunton. The rest is history.

As it turns out, this train didn't pull on to the A&S for another 7 hours or so, well after the sun had sunk behind the trees, so this would be my only decent shot. I won this round, but just barely.

I have been somewhat overwhelmed with the variety of wildflowers surrounding me...and before photography, I never considered them more than a flash of color on the side of the road. In truth, they are remarkable...not only for the amazing variation in form and color, but for the microscopic environment each seems to provide for our minute insect friends.

Generally, I've tried to locate the species...in this case, cursory research did not yield a clearly definitive result. Regardless, the field which harbored hundreds of these relatively tall plants was remarkable...as you can imagine from viewing the variation in hues - from cream to dark purple - on a single plant. In my opinion, one of the truly beautiful specimens I've encountered.

Characteristic of Girona are the picturesque houses overlooking the river Onyar. These were built over many years and give the flavour of a small Mediterranean city.

It was respect for one another that made them the ideal dynamic. In another life, they could have been beautiful, subtle co-conspirators. They were unlike the melodramatic or hungry or addicted, but rather, seductively intertwined and woven by their passions. In this case, they needed an ingredient, and this was the only urgency in their agreement. There is always unfinished stories, some way or another, and together, Oreyn Fox and Zimelda Zemeckis were living theirs.

Here Zemeckis presses with urgency the need for an ingredient that has depleted from her stores, in order to continue the treatment on Hannah Fischer. A mushroom, procured from a students secret and hidden plantation somewhere in the castle, a new revelation to Fox who was blissfully unaware of its existence.

One of the cases coming to BrickFair VA in August, who's excited for the event?

Found at a local antique store - $26 USD. Came with camera case, matched lens hood, 3 filters and a leather accessory case. A great deal. Not a prime piece, however. Some corrosion, loose body covering, and some minor dings and dents. No matter, a few things I can mend, others will just have to be ignored. I have always admired/laughed at the odd shutter winding plunger engineering. Feels like I'm setting off dynamite with every shot.

Somewhereville PI, Eddie" the Razor" Doyle leaving the wharf after solving the case of "the left handed chop sticks." He found the chop sticks in a tired rusty Shanghai freighter filled with cargo containers large enough to hide a thousand sins. Now it was time for a visit to his second office, a wharf side bar where the bartender knew Eddie's order better than his name. Bourbon was his faithful confidant, his silent partner on those cases that took him down darker roads than he’d ever cared to walk.

Lining up on 08R at Gatwick Airport as BA2205 to Punta Cana (PUJ) 23-10-2016

One year on from the events at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (08-09-2015). G-VIIO was in the initial stages of the takeoff roll the crew aborted takeoff due to a no. 1 engine failure. After coming to a stop on the runway, a fire developed on the left hand side of the aircraft between the no. 1 engine and the fuselage. A Mayday was issued and an evacuation of the aircraft was carried out on the runway with minor injuries reported. The fire was extinguished within five minutes of the mayday call.

An NTSB statement blamed failure of the "stage 8–10 spool in the high-pressure compressor section...liberating fragments that breached the engine case and cowling" on the GE90 engine.

Boeing had assessed the aircraft and determined the damage was limited and suitable for repair. A team from Boeing completed the repairs in February 2016. Airworthiness tests were conducted on the aircraft on 25 February 2016. G-VIIO was flown to Victorville the following day, where it was repainted. The aircraft was then flown to Cardiff on 15 March for a routine C check. Finally, it returned to its London Gatwick base and resumed passenger service on 24 March.
