You don't have to be crazy to be my friend.....but it sure helps.

This is my little friend Tessa. This was processed in a cartoonish style by using various warp brushes. The textured background is my own creation.

This is a made up word!

I like this image of the Great Orm cable car in Wales. It looks a little cartoonish but I haven't really done much to it. I probably increased saturation a little bit and cropped it a lot.

From way back when in the archives.

Almost a cartoonish quality about this shot

This Great White Egret was being chased by an exasperated Heron., who having had the lagoon all to himself for most of the summer., was suddenly overrun by large white versions of himself

The Heron in the end gave up., and the Egrets continued posing for photographs., whilst doing a bit of fishing of course

Shollenberger park could be called a birders paradise. The birds are back and in greater number now that our 5 year drought has come to an end. Ruddy Duck breeding males are almost cartoonish with a sky-blue bill, shining white cheek patch, and a gleaming chestnut body. This is the attire they wear to woo the fair maiden when Spring arrives.

Fun with Louis Wain in mind, best known for his large-eyed cartoonish cats.

Some days it's frustrating not being able to get the shot you envisioned. Laziness got me today because I didn't want to pull out my tripod so I handheld this. Personal critique - I feel like it looks a bit cartoonish, too many highlights or something. Time has escaped me and must move on.

Happy Saturday!

Can a bird have a facial expression?

Biologist/Ornithologist would probably say 'no' due lack of facial muscles

I don't completely accept that answer., it's the 'look' in the eye which gives the 'game away'., and in this case in a comically cartoonish way

'uh-ho... not him again!!! Time for a quick exit!

The expression/look was definitely there and it made me smile!

It was a good migration day on my property on Saturday until I saw this bird in the woods in the afternoon . This Woodcock was a so-called "lifer" which I had sought unsuccessfully for 11 years and was at the top of my provincial most-wanted list.

Aaron Tremper of Audubon Magazine described them well:

American Woodcocks are perhaps the most memeable birds

on the continent. With their cartoonish looks and quirky

behaviors, these coy and plump internet favorites are met

with fans everywhere they go.

This one did some of their funny walking, dancng, digging moves, tail wags and at one point looked like it was laying eggs. In summary, this "timberdoodle" -- one of several nicknames -- was an absolute delight and made it a great migration day.

....sometimes it's hard to tell.

I have some interior photos from St. Paul I might post.

I like the cartoonish feel here, that comes from compensating for the grey day and the bus window!

I found this leaf while walking through the woods behind our home. First I saw an eye, a mouth, and an ear! It looked very cartoonish to me. Later, after making a close-up, I saw the monster in the eye----appropriate for Halloween isn't it?

It pays to look down!!!

As we were walking the San Francisco Bay Trail in Sunnyvale we spotted this beautiful, lone Ruddy Duck. He was amongst a bunch of other ducks yet the only Ruddy we saw. With his blue bill and chestnut colored body he stood out like a sore thumb. There is a ton of wildlife that you can see while walking this trail, not the least of which is birds, butterflies, hawks, and ducks. Ruddy Ducks are compact, thick-necked waterfowl with seemingly oversized tails that they habitually hold upright. Breeding males are almost cartoonishly bold, with a sky-blue bill, shining white cheek patch, and gleaming chestnut body.

I was playing around with Micro Soft's AI and it doesn't do as good a job as Adobe's AI. Microsoft's looks cartoonish to me, which is OK if that's the look you're going for. This one if from Adobe and could be taken for real.

This mornings weather report at Battery Spencer was blue skies with a touch of smog lying on the east bay hills. This was a much darker scene, I cranked up the exposure slider for additional cartoonish effects.

This distorted mess was created using PTGui. It's a fun program and if you are interested in creating panorama's you will love it.

(Accidentally) shot in jpg mode; the "cartoonish" 8 bit colors can be made to work (?) for this subject.

This image is completely Artificial Intelligences except for the model and the sky. The first thing I found out about AI images is that it's difficult to manipulate the image. This one look fairly life like. On my first attempts the images came out looking cartoonish.

So, the rest of the story on the water issue is. I live outside of town so I'm not on city water. A private company supplies the water for me and most of my neighbors. They were only suppose to take a certain amount of water from the aquifer and for years have been taking more then their allotment. No one said anything because there was plenty of water. But now that water isn't so plentiful it's a big deal, which is why we're in stage 4 of water restrictions and not allowed to water outside.

I keep trying to make realistic images of E and I using Stable Diffusion but all I get is more painting, cartoonish images so I decided to use it to make another book cover.

Caught in mid-air: a puffin in the final moments of its landing approach on the cliffs of Drangey Island, Iceland. These charismatic seabirds, with their colorful beaks and clumsy wingbeats, are a true icon of the North Atlantic.

Drangey, a steep and rugged island in Skagafjörður Bay, is one of the best places in Iceland to observe Atlantic puffins (Fratercula arctica) during the summer months. Every year, thousands of them return here to nest in burrows high on the grassy cliff slopes, safe from predators and far from the mainland.

Puffins spend most of their lives at sea, only coming ashore to breed. Despite their almost cartoonish appearance, they’re agile fliers—capable of beating their wings up to 400 times per minute! Watching them land is always a delight: it’s a bit like watching a tiny feathered plane trying to stick a tricky landing.

Bellevue Beach is a 700-metre-long sandy beach with adjoining lawns. The characteristic blue-striped, almost cartoonish, lifeguard towers and the geometric kiosks were designed by Danish architect and furniture designer Arne Jacobsen in 1932.

Pelicans often walk a fine line between graceful and goofy!

Moments earlier, this pelican had been the essence of grace, sailing high above the water with outstretched wings and scanning for fish below. Then, a suitable target was spotted and emergency brakes were applied! (Mentally add cartoonish sound of screeching tires!) After a quick bit of maneuvering, there followed the hair-raising nose dive into the waves, though I can't remember if this splash was successful.

I love my Spicebush babies and their cute, cartoonish false faces each year...I was glad to see this first one of the year yesterday at Weeks Bay!

Finally finding one of these,on my birthday today, was the best gift yet!

Bisser is a young Belgian street artist whose pieces represent mainly stylized, cartoonish human figures. Unlike many other street artists, Bisser is a formally trained painter and animator, focused on introducing refreshing 3D elements into his figures and letters. He became publicly known after he was chosen as one of the top three artists at Bloop Festival in Ibiza, Spain. In addition to his street art, Bisser is also dedicated to indoor pieces created on canvas, such as drawings.

This image captures a moment of retail browsing. A woman, likely an adult, is standing outside a shop, intently looking at the window display. The shop appears to specialize in toys and novelties, as evidenced by the numerous stuffed animals and other items visible inside. The shop's branding is playful and eye-catching, with the name 'LABUBU' repeated in a vibrant, cartoonish font. The woman's attire – a long, flowing dress – contrasts with the playful nature of the shop's aesthetic.

We took a short hike to one of the prettiest sights in Lyngen Alps, glacial meltwater lake of Blåisvatnet, which deep blue colour appears thanks to suspended sedimentary material carried away by water from glacier at the mountain tops surrounding the valley. It was incredible to see how summer turquoise colour of the lake dims trapped in ice, yet remains blue just like an evening sky. This was the last day before lake was covered by snowfall, and it was such a joy to catch that chance!

I must admit that I went a little bit cartoonish with the raw file adjustment, therefore the picture unintentionally appears like a collage. There is a long way ahead of me to learn a proper picture adjustment.

Hard to keep the colors from looking cartoonish....quite a bit of energy out there.

Looks like groups is the way to go in Flickr, I have more views and get more followers, plus get to see some very cool photos and complete photostreams, so I will stay in them. I will avoid the awards ones like the plague.

I don't think I ever posted this. It's a photo illustration, somewhat cartoonish and fanciful I admit. I was inspired as a kid by things like the Mark Trail Comic Strips. This photograph flies in the face of (pardon the pun) standard bird photography. This was a pretty good flight shot in the original but I refuse to post a plain bird photograph. I'm not interested in doing it.

The appearance of this beautiful and elegant dove created quite a buzz among birders and bird photographers including yours truly. Birders throngs this location from out of states such as Pahang, Perak, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan, speaks much of how rare it is to come across this species. Last year, many had missed the colorful males, as we recorded mostly females.

The jambu fruit dove is a smallish colourful fruit dove. The plum-red face and pink “blush” on the white chest of the cartoonish-looking male are unique. Plainer female and juvenile can be difficult to separate from female Black-naped Fruit Dove; look out for Jambu’s bright white eye-ring and orange bill. Generally uncommon and nomadic; roams widely across lowland and foothill forests, where it seeks out fruiting trees. Forages quietly in the canopy, typically singly or in pairs.

and then "made" some more to make it look like my fairytale :)

This creek runs past the village, only a couple of kilometres to the east. I cross it on a small bridge every time I drive to Grasslands National Park (ie. often). From time to time I stop, to remove turtles from the road in summer (and photograph them), or for the covey of grey partridges that hang out nearby, or when I like the light. One morning in November, I really liked the light.

But I could tell the bright dawn sky to the southeast and dark expanse of land below were going to be too much for my sensor to handle. So I used the tripod and made several exposures, two of which I combined here for an HDR image that approximates what I saw at the time.

I try to use HDR sparingly, as it was over-hyped and employed wildly in its early years to create garish images that were too cartoonish for my liking. I still see these collections from time to time, and I don't like the look at all. I try to keep it subtle, and hope I'm not delusional about it.

One look at a pointed, wide brimmed black hat tells you all you need to know: WITCH! Goes back to childhood for me, watching the film Wizard of Oz and Margaret Hamilton's chilling portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West. Scared me then and scares me still. Terrifying images that are impossible to forget. Over the years I've seen many variations on that original witch theme. They usually center on the face of a hag, distorted, covered with warts, and just ugly. That visualization just looks cartoonish to me; it actually makes the witch look less scary. Much better to leave as much to the imagination as possible. The fear factor kicks in the moment a witch's presence has been established. My mind takes it from there as the terror I felt as a kid watching Oz comes racing back to envelop me one again. Witches aren't supposed to be something you see from a distance and cautiously approach. Much better they suddenly appear before you like a Jack-in-the box. And if it occurs in the middle of a dark, desolate cornfield, all the better.

I noticed how a number of my photos of flying bees had a cartoonish look to them, so I opted to use a filtering effect to enhance the nursery fable feel to this shot.
