The Jacques Cartier Bridge meets Longueuil Montreal.
But in the center, it is to cross the St-Lawrence seaway and the islands of Notre-Dame and St-Hélène.
The section of the bridge seen here is the part between the islands.
This is Pelican Island. Smaller than a football field, it has seven coconut palms and a small house occupied by a family, two grown men and their mother. We, Marlene and I, were dropped off here for several hours, alone, while others of our group went to another island. There wasn't much conversation as the family stayed in their house. For a while we snorkeled around the island and then tried to stay out of the sun. We learned that the island is owned by their extended family, each taking a five-month stay on the island exchanged by other family members.
The San Blas islands are a group of islands in the archipelago de San Blas, located in the Northwest of Panama facing the Caribbean Sea. There are 378 islands within the archipelago and they are scattered around in an area of about 100 square miles. If you leave the Golfo de San Blas by boat you will enter the Caribbean Sea. The majority of the 378 islands have no inhabitants, but on the larger ones you will find the gentle native people known as the Kuna’s. These people can be found on the larger inhabited Islands; Aguja Island, Guanidup Island, Chichimei, Yandup Island and El Porvenir. You may ask yourself What is san blas? San Blas is an autonomous territory in Panama formally called Kuna Yala. sanblas-islands.com
We arrived on the island of Niadub where we spent several days exploring Niadub and the other islands nearby. This picture was taken while on Niadub, or a short distance away.

From visiting the island of Chicheme, our boat stopped at Sand Island. It's hardly a real island, more like a sandbar in the middle of the Caribbean. It was nice to jump into its clear waters.
