Elan sat on the couch, quietly waiting for Landon to get home from work. Trying not to touch the deep gashes on his chest and face, growing restless with the embarrassment of getting beat up by trolls, again! "Blasted beasts are so f*cking mean!" He muttered reliving the memory of trying to take the shortcut through the enchanted woods behind Raven Academy; where he was interviewing to be Head Master. He gently tapped a finger on one of the wounds and winced.

A door creaked open and then gently closed. Elan sat with one piddly lamp illuminating his sad and defeated form on the couch. Landon set down his brief case and removed his jacket, assessing the scene expressionless. Elan couldn't figure out what he was thinking. Landon pinched the bridge of his nose as he put his jacket down and walked out of the room. Elan managed to look even more defeated, just waiting for Landon to return and say something... anything. Landon came back with a bottle of disinfectant and a rag... he helped Elan out of his shirt and patted his lap as he sat down. Elan crawled over him like a helpless wounded puppy and sat staring at him. Grimacing as Landon put the soaked rag to his wounded chest. Finally Landon broke the silence. "Why do you insist on always getting into danger?" Elan looked at Landon, his body melting at the caring eyes looking back, "because... I know you will always fix me."

The Strangers Project or "What's it like being you?"

A fifteen plus years project where anonymous handwritten entries tell the project (and readers) what it is like being them.

Seen hanging on the wall in one of the terminals in JFK.

I took this shot at the iconic church at the moment when all the pesky tourists were out of my way in the middle of the day. I think this place deserves some monochrome treatment. Too bad, I wanted to bring my RSS pinhole camera, but I decided not to at the last minute due to the limited space in my carryon backpack.

I took this shot at a relative slow shutter speed just to get a little silkiness out of the little waterfalls. Wish I had a ND filter with me but it would add to the bulk of my carryon. On this hike, I didn't bring anything except my phone and my little Sony RX100. The camera can go down low as ISO64 but I would lose dynamic range. I don't want to buy a ND filter because that would be another thing I need to remember to pack every time I go on a hike like this.
