About blackbird-sized and striking black-and-white. It has a very distinctive bouncing flight and spends most of its time clinging to tree trunks and branches, often trying to hide on the side away from the observer. Its presence is often announced by its loud call or by its distinctive spring 'drumming' display. The male has a distinctive red patch on the back of the head and young birds have a red crown. What they eat: Insects, seeds and nuts (Courtesy RSPB).

The view from a rock called "the Mühlefels" over the Danube Valley in the Schwäbische Alb. The views from the tops of the rocks lining the valley is marvellous. I stood on top of quite a lot of them, so there are similar views of the meandering Danube that will follow

I am an explorer by birth. There is something deep in side my soul that causes me to have perpetual wander lust. I think that is one of the reasons I am drawn to Second Life as I can travel in mere seconds to lands of the unknown or those only living in the imaginations of its creators. The theme of this round of Collabor definitely spoke to that side of me, the nomad, the gypsy, the adventurer and world traveler. I could live my life on the road and I doubt I could ever get enough of things like the world's largest.....

Come in my room tonight
Undress in the dying light
Where I have been waiting for you These days it’s all I ever do
When you call my name
It’s gonna be my ticket
To the miracle land
When you call my name Stamping your initials
Across the back of my hand
This winter has been very long
I’ve hardly ever seen anyone
But spring has come and everything’s new
Now I have been sleeping with you
When you call my name
It’s gonna be my ticket
To the miracle land
When you call my name Stamping your initials
Across the back of my hand
When I lie awake
Dreams of dread and wonder Dance before my eyes
Was this really meant for me?
Oh, my God, what a nice surprise!
When will I see you again?
There’s a line in the palm of my hand
That’s running deep and red as love
You take me with you when you fall
When you call my name
It’s gonna be my ticket
To the miracle land
When you call my name
Stamping your initials
Across the back of my hand
Just for once in my life
I wanna know that what I got is good enough
Guess we all will have our time
Must be a moment when it all adds up
So, when will I see you again? Baby, it’s not over, it’s not over
Yesterday was awesome as we finally were able to get out and shoot after many months of little opportunities as we were in the middle of a move. This was taken on Apopka wildlife drive near Orlando. There is little to photograph as it is still early in the season but we did have fun seeing the Osprey . Nature is so beautiful and we are trying to plant a back yard that will bring in wildlife with various trees and bushes that many species like. It is another adventure and great fun.
Wishing you a wonderful and blessed weekend !!
Bird call along the canal was a delight to listen to, even though the birds were mainly hidden from view.
Finally this little beauty provided me with a great photo opportunity.

The tawny owl, also called the brown owl, is commonly found in woodlands across Europe to western Siberia, and has seven recognized subspecies. It is a stocky, medium-sized owl, whose underparts are pale with dark streaks, and whose upper body may be either brown or grey.Hooting woodland hunter with silent wings. Without a sound, the tawny owl descends from its lofty perch to snatch unsuspecting rodents from the forest floor below.

The posture of Red-winged blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus) as they make their high pitched call makes it seem such an effort. The spread tail feathers and crouch make their call seem all consuming.
