Our last stop in the Philippines holiday 2022. A nice beach resort in Sariaya, with a view , ofcourse...

It is in Calabarzon on the island Luzon, Philippines

2022 was the year that it was finally possible after Covid to go back to our other home country, the Philippines.

As we do everytime, we start the serie with our daily view towards the mountains.

We had a wonderful time in this holiday, visited family and friends, and did much travel in the northern island Luzon as you will see later.

Taal Volcano and Taal Lake

Wow, I was totally surprised and a bit emotional to be back and see this volcano once more. In one of the first year's we visited the Philippines, we climbed on a donkey the beautiful green part, the Binintiang Malaki (Big Leg), one of the dormant parts of Taal Volcano to the volcano lake.

Now, after so many years and totally unexpected we were near the volcano once more.

Unexpected? Yes, we wanted to go to another amusement park, called Enchanted kingdom, but when we got there, it was booked by a big compamy for the whole day (ofcourse, nothing was mentioned of this on the internet, these things happen in the Philippines...), and to have some happy children in the car, we decided to go here, Sky Ranch, with the most magnificent views.

Taal is a very powerful volcano , the whole island is a high-risk area.

Despite the warnings, some families remain settled on the island, earning a living by fishing and farming crops in the rich volcanic soil

Taal has erupted many times, ands in 2020 was a really big eruption ad and this natural disaster caused many problems.

And now it is so strange and a bit scary to see Taal back in this condition.

The contrast could not be greater after the mist of Baguio , we visited the Philip-Ann beach resort , Anilao , Batangas.

The song: I won't let the sun go down on me , is the theme song there.

And here is the sunset.

The info:

Anilao is a quiet barangay on the northern coast of Mabini, a peninsula-municipality that separates Balayan Bay from Batangas Bay. Yep, it’s just a barangay. But Anilao’s popularity as a good place to be prompted resorts in neighboring villages to market themselves as also part of Anilao. These days, as far as tourism is concerned, Anilao is almost synonymous to the whole Mabini municipality.

Thanks to its proximity to Manila (only 3 hours away), it has become an ideal destination for divers, especially to beginners who may be a bit hesitant to travel to the far corners of the country for a first dip. The hidden wonders it keeps in its depths are no longer secret, but they continue to amaze curious souls.

Rooster , not simply a rooster, but a rooster from the Philippines. Also known as the alarm clock, because those birds wake us up on time every morning for our next adventure.

The Filipino name of a rooster is Tandang.

It's the start of the rainy season in the Philippines, just the time to go waterfall-chasing. This one's Balite Falls in Amadeo, Cavite province.

Macro I

My first photo in a long time as a a Flickr pro.

I will also re organize my photostream when I can find the time to do it.

The photo was taken in the Philippines, in the resort in Luzon.

Just a simple macro of a fern.

So much greens and other colourful leaves tere are to be seen in the tropics.

This is my third visit to this waterfall in Amadeo town, Cavite. Still hasn't changed much over the years except for the volume of water - the result of the stream being tapped for housing development in the area.

Isdaan floating restaurant 4 , peaceful reflections

We started our travel in a private resort of the hot springs in Laguna. Not much to see of those hot springs, just nice warm water and relaxation. So in our serie of the Philippines we will skip that part and move on.

On our way back home from Laguna hot springs we visited a restaurant. And not just simply a restaurant, we can better say it is a theme park. Lots and lots of statues, from comic figures to crocodiles , from penguins to religious statues,.

There is live music and dance, beautiful greens and native huts.

A paradise for a photographer.

Besides that the food is great and at a reasonable price. We sure can recommend a visit.

For now, because we have so much to show you all, the last one of this restaurant. But later, once in a while, we will upload more pictures from this place we hope.

The tropical rainforest in Bato Springs resort.

Bato Springs Resort is located in the town of San Pablo City, Laguna, two hours drive from Manila. It is located between the Mt. Cristobal and Mt. Banahaw. It was established in 1981 where it was first a river and then later on developed into a better version of what it is right now.

We have visited this resort many times, a kind of tropical Zen feeling we get here.

Bato Springs Resort is a perfect getaway to lessen the heat o summer and keep your coolness. With natural spring water flowing in the area, cold and chill vibes will surely be touching your inner hotness. Literally speaking, the water is cold at day, and even colder at night.

Took friends into this quaint town and visited the Bumbungan Eco Park and its waterfall plus Lumot Lake. Along with a visit to the nearby historical town of Pila, it was just enough for a day tour.

Taal lake and Taal Vulcano

We were just passing by there in 2024.

Just one small stop for this view.

Sky Ranch Tagaytay

It's a amusementpark, and it's not so big. But this amusementpark with the largest ferris wheel in the Philippines has a view which you all will see later.

Could'nt help myself to lollipop this one in colours...

Garden hall

The garden hall in Kamayan Sa Palaisdaan in the Philippines can be used for all kind of activities and festivities.

A restaurant for a big party or a wedding and even a conference for business people.

Now that some kind of a different location then the standard hotel hall isn't it?

Even when it is not used one can think of the fairies just dropping in for a quick visit.

In the picture one can see many plants , which in Europe are only available in garden stores.

Daranak Falls in Tanay, Rizal.

The resort people where this waterfall is located are concerned about resent developments in the area. The stream feeding into this waterfall is being considered as a source of water for new developments in the area. When that happens there is a very real possibility of the stream flow being greatly reduced and this waterfall disappearing.

Batlag Falls is seldom visited compared to nearby Daranak Falls - at Tanay, Rizal province, Philippines. We were practically the only visitors here when we first arrived, allowing me to shoot photos unhindered.

... at Amadeo town, Cavite, Philippines.

This waterfall is located in the hilly town of Luisiana, Laguna, Philippines. To reach it requires a 15-20 minute hike on a forest trail beginning at Dafi Resort near the national highway. The trail runs parallel to the Dapi River. We arrived here almost at noon with the sun overhead and not a lot of cloud cover which made long exposure shots of this waterfall a bit patience-stretching.

The waterfall at Dalitiwan Resort in Majayjay, Laguna.

The Yang-In Sandbar at high tide: mangrove trees are plentiful in this area. At high tide the water can get up to waist-deep for a few hundred meters around, resulting in an excellent swimming area.

Masasa Beach's Lagoon at sunset, Tingloy, Batangas. We only did an overnight stay here on the way to Quezon province. With many other beaches beyond Masasa Beach, this place deserves a second visit.

This is the fourth time we've been to these falls, most of them to accompany friends visiting the place for the first time.

The first time we visited Aliw Falls in Luisiana, Laguna in February last year there was a small volume of water cascading down into a turquoise pool, We made another visit last week, just after Typhoon Nina (Nock-ten) had passed quite close to this area. The result was a muddy hike to a waterfall that looked completely different from the one we saw in February. It was also almost noon time when we got here resulting in less than ideal shooting conditions. I had to use some pretty strong ND filters to get a few shots off.

Revisited this twin cascade in a forested area of Nagcarlan town, Laguna province. We were the only visitors the whole time we were there.

The Pantihan Falls in Maragondon town, Cavite, is almost reduced to a trickle - locals say these falls were produced when water was diverted to help irrigate the farms nearby.

One of the smaller falls downstream from Bukal Falls in Majayjay town, Laguna. Residents of nearby Liliw town also refer to Bukal as Kilangin Falls.

The most accessible of all the dozen or so falls in the town of Real, Quezon. A river running through the rugged hills of the Sierra Madre is responsible for the numerous waterfalls in the area.

The light from the Philippines

The light from the Philippines will always shine in our hearts.

The last , for now, of our serie from the Philippines, we hope you've enjoyed, we know we did.

A work of art: Batlag Falls' primary cascade in Tanay, Rizal.

This waterfall in Tanay, Rizal province has several turquoise colored pools that draw several visitors even during the rainy months.

Close-up of Balagbag Falls' first tier. There are 10 known waterfalls in the coastal town of Real but seven of them are not as accessible as Balagbag, with most being located in the heavily forested hills above the town.
