I got a CABG done. Yes, a Cardiac Bypass Surgery on the 7th January '22. I have been gifted a new lease of life surely & it all started with a gadget that never goes off my wrist.
On my daily walk cum jog of 10 kilometers plus every day, of late I could sense slight lightheadedness if I'd increase the pace & intensity of the jog. I'd stop for a few seconds, check my Fitbit watch, compare it with Neha's figures running alongside & wonder how mine would never now go in my Cardio Target Zone of 135-140 BPM. It'd always hover around 110 & yet have a buzz in the head.
Mind you, I had completed a grueling 160 km trek through 4200 meters above MSL, the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek in Mid-September & there was a fair bit of confidence in cardiac & overall fitness. But something was amiss.
I contacted as always, our in-house Doctors, my son, Dr. Anshuman Desai & my cricket-team-mate & brother in law, Dr. Samir Desai. Echo & Stress Cardiogram performed by Dr. Biren Sitwala showed a drop in Blood Pressure * Pulse but no blockages. Dr.Himanshu Desai, though opined that these were classic signs of blockage & Dr. Pragnesh Shah, a Cardiac Interventionologist & another cricket teammate, nailed it to three big blockages of 30, 90 & 100% in the three coronary arteries, in the Angiogram performed by him the next day. He opined that a cardiac event was lurking right around the corner.
The next day, Dr. Jagdish Mange, the best Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon in Surat, if not in the country, performed the CABG. The man is not only a Genius but one of the most humble & modest people that I have met.
I am thankful to all these amazing doctors for the new whiff of breath in me. Thanks to Fitbit too.
0030 hrs, 29th October 2022. I was already awake even before the alarm went off. A quiet thought was already racing through my mind: “Be strong. There is no going back, come what may.” I thumped my chest thrice to check the resolve. The CABG sawn Sternum had healed well & resounded a solid Yes. I knew what was in store for this summit push tonight. It was going to be the toughest night assault that I had ever attempted earlier. I tugged at the three bottoms & four top layers as I straightened out of my tent into the vast open lands of our Lamuney Campsite. Mount Kanchanjunga loomed large afar. I knew the distances are deceptive in the mountains & it was going to be a massive challenge. Narinder Bisht, our trek guide, Buddha Dorji his assistant & the support team of TrektheHimalayas company were up & were preparing the early morning tea & breakfast. With a few customary night shots of the amazing vista, I & my tent partner Sanjay Hosali, took off for the long push uphill at 0130 hrs along with AB Daiji, another able Lieutenant to the guide.
With our headlamps on in the dark & yet starry night, we quietly followed AB Daiji, who knew the dark terrain like the back of his hand. The starry night twinkled brightly as we crossed the frozen water streams & the flat land of Lamuney for the first half an hour. So deceptively easy! AB took a sudden right in the dark to the rocky slopes, with a hiss: “Abb Chadai hai aage, dhyaan se!” (“The climb begins from here, careful.”) Relentless is the story ahead, folks. You walk with your head bowed down with eyes searching for the slippery rocks but the soul absorbing the massifs around. The tired legs nudge the brain to ask the guide: “Aur kitna door?” (How far yet?) After three & half hours of a vertical grind & we finally reached the summit of Goechala View Point at 16,200 ft. The stars & the meteors were making an exit as the darkness vanished. The huge glacier of Kanchanjunga slowly emerged from the shadows to give us an idea of how it would feed the Samiti Lake below & ultimately the river Prek Chu, one of the lifelines of Sikkim. The highest mountains on the other side of the glacier looked just a stone’s throw away. To gauge the altitude of the shoulder-hugging mountains is difficult but any doubts about who was the biggest boy amongst them all were quickly expelled with the first light on the peaks. Just as the lamps are lit in the Diwali festival on the basis of descending order of the Diya size, Kanchanjunga, got the first aurum light on its peak. Clear Winner! The Kabru North (7338 m), Kabru Soth (7318 m), Rathong (6678 m) & Kabru Dome (6585 m) which were closer to the View Point & apparently loomed larger than Kanchanjunga, got their sunlight to glow in their descending order of altitude. Nature has a way of identifying the winners! The glow of the mountains slowly & surely transferred to my cheeks as I silently whispered a thank you note to my family, the doctors & the friends who helped heal my blocked heart & gave me the strength to witness this view.

-Sergeant Lyonne-
“Being the regimental commander, it was my job to oversee the success of our mission; to re-establish the abandoned Republic Outpost on Orto Plutonia. I oversaw the set up of a light artillery emplacement which would support other squads launching an assault on the CIS base which was re-established several years after we created a peace treaty with the native Talz. They had not called for help, but after our scouts (which had been patrolling the planet for some time now) reported that the CIS base was once again operational, and that the Talz could not stop them alone, we came in. Just as our squads started their march towards the enemy, Order 66 was issued, and in an attempt to carry it out, the forward infantry were eliminated by Bant Eerin, who was our Jedi General. As Eerin approached, I told the troopers to “Scrap that Jedi!”, but they were unfamiliar with the term, and were soon caught in a desperate scramble with an angry squid-in-a-hardsuit. Time to shine boys. I zipped off on my make-shift speeder I made a while back. I’m not crazy enough to face that Mon-Calamarian”

This is my entry for the CABG "Order 99!
EPIC Fails!" C&C appreciated (on main pic please). Thanks!
Order 66 would have failed epically if Mace Windu would have been wise enough to take the entire Jedi Order with him to arrest Palpatine.
This is my entry for the Order 99 contest on CABG based on my "Jedi VS. Sith" picture.
This is my entry for the "Stay in School" contest on CABG.
When these troopers were ordered to "comb the desert in search of Separatists", this is not what the commander meant. Looks like it's back to clone school for these guys.

yes the waist capes are all custom, they are not from mmcb or other places i made them. and a question, at the CABG forums i can't make any topics... it always says that i have to have special acces... how do i get special acces?????
EDIT: i know all that now
Captain Deuce just received Order 66! But unfortunately a family of touring Gungans have distracted his troops with a photo shoot! Their son is a big fan of Clone Troopers and they needed to snag that perfect moment when he met them! "Can wesa have un bonno photo!?"
This was a bit of an old creation that I built for a contest over on the CABG forums. I never posted here on Flickr, so why not now? :3
Looks familiar, no?
The image on the left dates back to June 2009. What is defined as a Sherman tank...looks nothing like the real thing. Mixed greys, no functions and no real shape. Don't even get me started on the photography...
And then, we look at the image on the right. January 2011. The model looks far more like the real thing, no mixed greys and the photography is almost flawless.
Both pictures were taken and both models were made by me. Yep. I used to be, and still am in some aspects, a noob. Yet, look at me now. I've progressed an unbelievable amount in just 19 months. And if I can do it, so can you. Like Journey once said: 'Don't stop believing'.
Along the way, There are several people who always helped me out, and I'd like to mention them. They're good friends, and incredible mentors. I'm sorry if I forgot anyone.
DarthPineapple, who always gave me suggestions and tips.
Milan and Ewok, who always kept me competitive to be the best :P
Aaron Morse and Rumrunner, two people whose buidls I looked up to and always kept me going, inspired me.
Ruben Riojas, A great correcter ;)
Tac, my sarcastic-ass friend from the CABG, who always leaves lovely comments :)
And YOU, yes, you. The fan who's been following me. Thank you. :)
My entry for the CABG hosted aMOCian Idol! A post Apoc scout I made for Brickfair too! The helmet is Brickforge.
Custom ARC Trooper Dyno is based on the ARC Troopers in the original Star Wars - The Clone Wars series from 2002. Dyno's designs are not the same to the standard ARC Trooper/lieutenant, but this is to correspond with the personalized armor that most ARC's wore to represent their legion, squad, company, or even themselves. Dyno uses decals found on the CABG for a 501st trooper. With a few small tweaks, Dyno can be made into the generic clone.
Dyno utilizes custom waterslide decals, a custom designed helmet (made using special blue tape), modified LEGO elements, and a BrickArms Space Magnum, courtesy of GI Brick.
Date made - 1/13/13 though 1/15/13
Additional Info - A clone similar to this will be made soon, it will be another ARC Trooper (without the custom stripes, it will look like a standard ARC Trooper from the 2002 Clone Wars series).
Before General Veers destroyed the Rebels' main power generator, he sent a recon force to scout ahead and take out the rebels guarding the generator.
Based on the Falcon in Halo Reach. :)
I built this one for mostly playability. I purposely made it easy to assemble/disassemble so I could easily bring it to a friend's house to play with yet retaining a stable and sturdy structure. (I've included a pic of that to show you how I made it because as an amateur builder I always like to see how others build their stuff so I decided to show you mine!)
Features on the Falcon include:
-Opening cockpit
-Movable/angleable rotors
-Movable tail flaps
-Turrets can turn/rotate and be put into storage postion
-The top part can be easily lifted up so its easier to fit the minifigures
-Fits six minifigures
Built for the CABG Dual Prop contest.

I hope you like it, enjoy! C&C is welcome! :)

The 2002 ARC Trooper is now here!
Advanced Recon Commandos—also known as Advanced Recon Clone troopers or simply ARC troopers—were an elite variant of clone trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Although less numerous than the other clones, they were also among the most skilled soldiers in the galaxy.
The generic clone lieutenant (standard ARC trooper from the 2002 Star Wars - Clone Wars series) is shown here! He uses a standard Lego kama, Lego printed torso, decaled limbs (design is a mash-up of templates found on CABG), custom taped helmet, and custom designed pauldron. Weapon is the BrickArms XMS.
My 327th Star Corps Troopers with Commander Bly at the front. His helmet and visor are from Arealight, and the pauldron is made by EclipseGrafx (I think!)
And yes, I misspelt Corps
Top floor: In order to gain access to the underground facility, the 707th troopers ruthlessly decide to blow a hole in the ground with explosives. Second floor: General Spade Sjaakira encounters the droids first, clearing the way for the troops above. Bottom floor: Unaware of the chaos going on, a Techno Union officer is conversing with two battle droids.

We got our next set of orders, to find and destroy the cargo tram that crashed. Well, it was already destroyed, but we had to make sure there were no surviving parasites. I didn't think explosives would do the trick, so I called in one of the 457th special units: the Flame Squad. These guys were so badass. They swooped down in a heavily stylized gunship, and got into formation. Then they torched the thing, and walked away, leaving it in flames. Once they left, we called in the evac to get us out of there quickly. I don't think the Nelvannians liked us setting fire like that, and we didn't feel like explaining why there was no alternative. We just didn't want to take chances.
Gee, the flame squad had awesome gunships, covered in bright orange flames. I wish Major Pyne would let us customize our gunships and walkers. And the tank lifters too. Kind of like that thing they do in the CABG infantry division. And I hope the major doesn't tl;dr this...
My 41st Elite Corps with Commander Gree at the front. His helmet is by Arealight.

In the Winter of 1944, the Battle of the Bulge commenced between the 101st Airborne and the Wehrmacht, in Bastogne, Belgium. The 101st were heavily outnumber and were missing much needed supplies such as weapons & ammunition, Food & Water, and warm winter clothing. This scene depicts the delivery of these items to some soldiers of the 101st in their Foxholes.
The purpose of this so-called project originated on the CABG. Us 3 WWII builders got together and decided to make 24x24 vignettes of one specific theme, this time Bastogne/Battle of the Bulge.
My 501st Troopers with Echo and Fives. Helmets by Arealight, decals by MikeZulu and ChaoticGood. The guns are from Brickarms.
Overview
In 1944, several months after first 'invading' Europe, an Operation, known as Market Garden, took place in the Netherlands. The 101st Airborne, Polish Infantry, and British Paratroopers were all part of this operation, which failed miserably.
This scene show members of the 101st being unable to reach their injured comrade while being shot at by Wehrmacht soldiers

Probably not my best work compared to my others, but I still quite like how the greebling turned out and the wrecked buildings.
Overall shot.
The purpose of this so-called project originated on the CABG. Us 5 WWII builders got together and decided to make 24x24 vignettes of one specific theme, at this time Bocage/hedgerow fighting. I picked this name, because this Jeep was patrolling the area and then unexpectedlly were ambushed.
I believe this is some of my best work. I absolutely love the tree, and believe the figure positioning is great.
Space Policeman Jack Nelson discovers the new equal opportunity employment policy. A little tribute to the Watch from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.
My rendition of Delta Squad from the Star Wars: Republic Commando video games.

Feel free to add yourself, more FigBarf coming soon.
Well I'm still going strong in this contest! Tied in first! So hears my fourth entry and likely my last :'( Based on a MOC by Crimson Wolf.
For the Faction Wars contest on CABG. My faction (the guys) are shown "pwning" DarthPineapple's Femtroopers.
I'm also trying out a new setup for my photography... Y/N?
Oh, and you can think what you want of what my "sig-fig" is doing...

This photo is of my sons and I earlier this year on a white water rafting trip along the Wenatchee River in eastern Washington State. Taken just prior to embarking, it was a phenomenal trip and a memorable, fun experience with my adult sons. L-to-R, Logan, me and Clayton.
I recently discovered that I had to have Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) or commonly known Open Heart Bypass Surgery. This surgery happened this last Tuesday, Nov. 28th. I am home since Sunday, Dec. 3rd recuperating for the next 12 weeks.
There are so many blessings surrounding this whole experience.
1st, I took an EMT certification while in the Air Force many years ago. I quickly recognized the onset of Angina pain and got myself to my MD and she started the testing-ball rolling. Testing told us a couple of important things; I had not damaged my heart, yet my heart had serious and multiple vascular occlusions. A couple of stents were not going to be adequate to alleviate and address my situation. Please take a moment to explore the signs of Cardiovascular Disease so you can help your loved ones recognize the signs, when they won’t or can’t.
2nd, my Surgery this last Tuesday, Nov 28th was performed by one of the best team of surgeons in the Pacific Northwest and they were with the US Veterans Administration Hospital system here in Seattle. The team, surgery and post care was amazing and state of the art. The morning of surgery I dropped off a bag full of “Thank You in Advance” cards for the entire team along with some unique, personally curated playlists across all music genres in each envelope. Two days later, one of my surgeons came in to the surgical ICU, her head rhythmically bobbing, smiling and listening to some of the music she had chosen. She pointed to her iPhone, pointed to me, winked and gave me a thumbs up. I was told many times how much they enjoyed my gesture of profound thanks! However, I am the one that will wake every day smiling and thanking them!
3rd, I had no other complicating factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure etc. which put my odds of a successful outcome very high. I had an excellent outcome! I was up and out of bed walking the next day, doing laps in the surgical ICU. They laughingly called me their rock star patient. I kinda liked that. ;-))
I am profoundly grateful for the team, my care and the blessings of life which I will continue to enjoy for perhaps decades – That’s My Plan!
Yep, back and recuperating and all is well. I chose this shot because it is about Life and all its subtle and not so subtle blessings. It is also where I will be again this year!
Unfortunately that also means I will be mining my archives for many weeks and foisting long ignored jewels which are perhaps interesting, beautiful or joyous.
It’s All Aces!!

For the military podracer build at CABG. I thought the engines of a podracer are similar to rockets. So I based the engines off an ICBM. :-) Tactics consist of: 1. speeding to the target, discharging the ordinance in the nose, and returning to rearm and refuel, or 2. going kamikaze and steering the pod directly into the target. (use with discretion)
Brickshelf Gallery with close ups up the engines and the pod itself.
I based the pod design off this.
And here is the inspiration for the engines.
My entry for the CABG Military Podracer guild build.
The Death Pod, also known as the "Podracer of Doom" and "The Racing Death", was a kind of military podracer built by a barbaric skeleton-like race in order to protect their planet from invasion during the Clone Wars. It was feared in many systems. Based on the engine design of Mawhonic's powerful GPE-3130 and the aerodynamic cockpit design of Anakin Skywalker's podracer, it was pretty fast for a podracer of its size. The small side turbines were swapped for heavy Gatling guns and turbo lasers were added on top of the engines. Also, the protective grates in front of the large turbines were removed and spikes were added in their place to allow enemies to get chopped up when getting run over by the pod. The cockpit featured two twin blasters, two missiles, and a tank full of napalm that could be dropped in order to get rid of unwanted tailgaters.
