Village Panorama, Shanghai, Nanhui District (上海市南汇区), taken back in November 2003. Stitched from 4 pictures, horizontal field of view about 180°.
So, yet another "blast from the past", some development happened in the meanwhile, read on:
This place is a victim of traffic development, details: Expansion of that left-to-right canal in front of the viewer and a new, still unnamed and unnumbered 4-lane road. During this development the place was razed for the construction of a bridge (Y8 Bridge) for that new 4-lane road (which actually ends in the middle of nowhere just slightly north and south of here).
I was standing on a small bridge of the 大芦线南路 (Daluxian nanlu aka no. C888 road ) leading from right to left, now there is an abutment of that 4-lane bridge and the mouth of the canal that small bridge was crossing was moved to the right.
Over the years many things happened in Nanhui, including the building of a huge artificial lake (that was just in planning back in 2003).
And the former Nanhui District is now integrated into the Pudong New Area.

CSX C888, the “Kindschy Express” as some local ATL railfans may call it, heads south through some fall foliage. This train has earned that nickname since a local railfan is actually in charge of ordering & managing these trains for Georgia-Pacific’s Cedar Spring Plant. 11-11-22
CSX C888 heads south on the Bowline in the golden hour with 112 loads of coal for the G-P paper mill in Cedar Springs, GA.
I deleted another version as I liked this one better after viewing the previous post.

A look at some of the cars that make up C888, coal loads from Resource on the CV for Georgia Pacific’s Containerboard mill in Cedar Springs, GA. When I took this, it was just another shot that I may do something with, but now I’m glad I took it, because on May 14th, 2025, employees of the mill were notified that the mill will be permanently closing, with most jobs being eliminated by August 1st. While this train by this point only ran about once of month, it was still another coal drag that at least had some dependability of running on the former L&N main to Atlanta. 4-6-24
After waiting for M542 to finish up working Knoxville, C888 thunders down the KD sub into Singleton with coal loads
Due to the impending closure of the Georgia-Pacific paper mill in Cedar Springs, Georgia, CSX C888-19 will most likely be the last coal train to the mill.

"C888’s last stand”
Well, the day that I have dreaded for years, finally came. The last C888, -19, runs south along Alabama State Road 14, headed for Cedar Springs, GA. Announced in late May/early June, Georgia Pacific was shutting down the plant at Cedar Springs come August, on the Chattahoochee Industrial. Effecting the employees of the Georgia Pacific Mill, the Chattahoochee Industrial, the local economy, and the coal train that serves the plant, C888.
The train sided at Hogansville around 0630, and tied down. I was actually really anxious all day with this train, and thought I might have to break out the flashes for it. Around 1630, a crew arrived for it, and departed from Hogansville around 1730.
My friend and I have always made an attempt to shoot C888 every chance we got, even E888, I knew this set was on borrowed time, and I’ve made countless efforts to shoot it over the years. It’s always been one of the coolest trains I’ve laid eyes on. It’s a look into a bygone era of coal, no company sets or uniforms, just random old ass hoppers with random reporting marks, though mostly dominated by HPTX.
What’s to happen to the set? Who knows, maybe it’ll get assigned to another train, maybe it’ll be stored for years on end as the cars were only built in ‘94, or, they’ll be sent to the scrapers after 31 years on the road. But, they’ve had a good run on the road, and did the job they were built for.

C499 WUT of Barry Raybould is passing the Royal Hotel in York. It is a 12 metre Bedford YNV Venturer with Plaxton Paramount II 3200 coachwork, new to Mayne, Buckie in 1986, originally registered C888 GSE. At some point it has gained a new lower front panel, which I think is quite attractive given the livery and general condition of the coach.

It's a drab, dreary and, most of all, rainy afternoon on the old L&N as C888 (Corbin, Kentucky to Dothan, Georgia coal loads) is seen popping out of the tunnel at Morley, Tennesse.

Walsall Corpation
In Late 1995/Earley 1996 12 Metrobuses was painted in Heritage Liverys. Here is Walsall`s Corpation. When i first saw it on the 966 it looked so much like Timesaver Livery. A great Livery for a great bus. 2888 also gained Employee Owned livery in 1992.

CSXT C888 makes its way through the rural landscape of Pike County near Banks. Its destination is the G-P paper mill in Cedar Springs, GA.
Seen in Wolverhampton at the end of the Eighties was this Walsall based Metrobus2 No.2888 C888 Fon looking very smart indeed in a subtle bottle-green and gold Linited Edition livery telling the public West Midlands Travel was employee owner
Looking back on some of my excursions, I don't quite know how I managed to cram so much into a one day trip. In this case, for instance, I managed not only a good few hours in Birmingham, but also a bus ride out to Walsall and back for an hour or so; and still managed to get my train from Birmingham New Street back to Stockport and be back home in Hyde from there by tea time.
Here, 2988 demonstrates Walsall Corporation heritage livery rather nicely.

Walsall Employee owned 2888 seen working 951 in Cannock in 1993. A great livery for a great bus. 2888 also later in life gained Walsall Corpation livery.

The railway line along the californian pacific beaches is not only used by the Amtrak Surfliner. North of Oceanside there are also a few Metrolink Commuter Trains running. One of them was seen with the southern beaches of San Clemente.
2888 works route 27 on 1 November 1997 on the last WMT fleetline day. Heritage buses were brought in to work alongside the fleetlines on route 27 on this send off day. A great day out with loads of variation. The fleetlines are greatly missed from day to day service as well as metrobuses.
