C2C 357003 passes Shadwell Docklands Light Railway station on the 09.35 Fenchurch St. to Grays with 30 St. Mary Axe in the background,better known as the 'Gherkin'.

357044 is on the Bow Curve approaching Gas Factory Junction on 9B39.
On the 15th of June 2024, C2C trains from Shoeburyness were diverted via Stratford before going to Fenchurch Street. Services throughout the day were patchy due to a line circuit failure at Bow Junction.
This was the original London, Tilbury and Southend Railway (LT&SR) route to Barking and beyond until 1858 And interestingly the Gas Factory/Bow Curve was double tracked until 1996 which it was then made into single track operation.
To my surprise, every other train which calls at Basildon runs through to Liverpool Street instead of Fenchurch Street.
As I was needing St. Pancras for an onward train to Nottingham, I thought I'd give it a go. Considering I left fifteen minutes later than usual, I actually got to St. Pancras earlier, even with a food move, a pity these services don't run all week!!
357208 and 357015 sit on Platform 18 at London Liverpool Street ready to do the 1843 to Shoeburyness, calling at Stratford, Barking, Upminster, West Horndon, Laindon, Basildon, Pitsea, Benfleet, Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell, Westcliff, Southend Central, Southend East and Thorpe Bay.
In this old deserted factory old clothes are gathered, ready for transport. This is an appropriate background for the "cradle to cradle" chairs, made out of second hand walls of trucks.

The line through Basildon unsurprisingly gets a decent level of service into London, seeing as it lies at the very bottom of Essex just twenty four miles out from the Big Smoke!!
357319 (with 357029 leading) calls at Basildon with the 17:33 to London Fenchurch Street via Laindon, Upminster, Barking, West Ham and Limehouse.
