Having no siblings, she liked to be with her parents whatever they were doing, whether feeding cows on the moor, or filling bottles for orphan lambs. Her mother did all the work indoors, gardened, and helped outdoors with the cows, but took care that C------ had friends and birthday parties like other children. C------ also had chickens, cats and dogs as pets, a favourite cow and, as she grew up, her own horses. At Young Farmers Club she met P-----, and married him when she was 25; they were perfectly suited. Everyone was pleased. Now C------ helps on the farm morning and evening, and P----- at weekends. Her mother is widowed; she runs the farm with a new confidence and even goes ‘swaling’ as a Commoner, burning gorse on the moor.

The work maintenance window started at 1600 on Friday evening. I worked from that point until around 0130 or so, then crashed and got up at 0630 to work until 1630. The migration was a big one, moving two generations in database server and affecting our biggest client-facing sites/applications. I was a stressful wreck leading up to the migration -- plus I had been sick with allergies/cold all week to the point where I was coughing so much I wasn't getting any sleep. I felt horrible!
And now you know why I didn't have time to pull out the real camera. I was finally feeling better at this point -- no more coughing (just sneezing) and the migration was basically complete.

Went to the dentist today and got a check up. All teeth marked “solid” and periodontal tissue was between 0 and two, an upgrade from 2s and 3s! 0 means ZERO PERIODONTAL ISSUES. I am pretty stoked. The twos, as explained by my dentist, are only on the two teeth I have with crowns and is perfectly normal because of it so I passed with flying colours.
HOW did a 49 year old improve their teeth and gums in a place with no fluoridation? Let me tell you:
1.) Electric toothbrush with a rotating head. Only those are recommended by dentists and I see why!
2.) Obviously fluoridated tooth paste. Brush with it but DO NOT RINSE IT OUT! Just spit out the foam but don’t rinse! Washing it back off is a waste of money and risky to your teeth. They need a minimum 30 minutes to remineralise so you better pick a flavour you like because it stays on.
3.) No mouthwash. Waste of money. Water will do fine and swish BEFORE you brush.
4.) Floss. Best flossing device is a water flosser like a Water Pik. It’s worth the money. Either use it before you brush or after, but you’ll have to brush your teeth again if you use it after for reasons mentioned above. Unlike string floss, water flossing actually feels nice and gets EVERYTHING, sort of like a home dental cleaning.
5.) Vitamin C! Vitamin C helps with looking young because it helps your body make and maintain collagen levels and collagen helps with gum maintenance and regeneration. Eat as much as you can AND supplement. It’s nigh impossible to overdose on it (humans don’t make vitamin C and it’s water soluble therefore it doesn’t accumulate in your body hence why you need to eat it daily) and it’s super cheap. If you have periodontal issues, vitamin C is your new best friend.
6.) Get a cleaning every 6 months. It’s cheaper and much less stressful and less painful than dental work so DO IT. My next cleaning is next Friday.

C helped S & W spread gravel and sand on the coop floor this afternoon (between rainstorms) the boys were a BIG help! I really love that they have been involved in the whole process of building the coop - lots of good father / son bonding going on!
