CONTRASTS !
A Rutan Long-EZ arrives at YHM for the Canadian Aviation Expo (Cargojet B-767 in the background)
The Rutan Model 61 Long-EZ is a homebuilt aircraft with a canard layout designed by Burt Rutan's Rutan Aircraft Factory. It is derived from the VariEze, which was first offered to homebuilders in 1976.
The aircraft is designed for fuel-efficient long-range flight, with a range of just over 2,000 miles (3,200 km).It can fly for over ten hours and up to 1,600 miles (2,600 km) on 52 gallons (200 liters) of fuel. Equipped with a rear-seat fuel tank, a Long-EZ has flown for 4,800 miles (7,700 kilometers). The pilot sits in a semi-reclined seat and controls the Long-EZ by means of a side-stick controller situated on the right-hand console. In addition to having an airbrake on the underside, the twin tail's wing-tip rudders can be deflected outwards to act as auxiliary airbrakes

THE RED BARON
Replica completed in 1982 -
For most of its life this aircraft was painted to represent an all red triplane as flown by Manfred von Richthofen, also known as the Red Baron, although it incorrectly wore the serial Fok. Dr I 103/17. In the winter of 2005 the aircraft was given all new fabric and repainted in more authentic colours to represent Fok. Dr I 477/17.

C-FGAT - Hawker Sea Fury T-20 - Cinema Sixteen Inc.
(on display at the CWHM)
at Hamilton International Airport (YHM)
The Sea Fury is a WW2-carrier-based fighter aircraft and was operated by the Royal Canadian Navy on their aircraft carriers. This example is owned by Burlington/ON based Cinema Sixteen Inc. and spends most of the time inside the hangars of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at YHM, but is sometimes used for airshows.
The CWH Sea Fury was built in 1954 by Hawker as a T-20 trainer model (Royal Navy VZ 365, S/N 41H623282). It was then supplied to the German DLB for use as a target tug until 1972, registered as D-CACA. It then remained derelict in Cologne until bought by Eric Vormezeele of Belgium as a source of spares in 1975. In 1985 it was sold to Jimmy Hunt of Memphis, and then to George Baker of Florida in 1987, and then to Neil McLain of Alberta where most of the project work was done. It was bought by Sandy Thomson in 2000 out of temporary storage in Cutbank, Montana as N1324. Registered as Canadian C-FGAT in 2005. The aircraft is now hangared at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Hamilton International Airport (YHM)
Normally powered by a Bristol Centaurus XVIIC 18-cylinder twin-row radial engine, 2,480 hp
(1,850 kW) this aircraft has a 2.800 hp Curtiss Wright 3350-26WA engine with a 4-blade propeller
Folding wings are an absolute must for aircraft carrier operations
registered on 26 September 2011 to Worlds Greatest Aircraft Collection Inc, Polk City, FL as N58SF.
