Buzz came in as he developed a really bad breath. He had a general anaesthetic and dental only 2 months before. Unfortunately he requires further dental extractions.

Buzz Around Town. I was 1 of 25 artists chosen to paint their own 5' tall commemorative Buzz statue for Georgia Tech. Each artist was paired with a sponsor to bring Buzz to life. The statues will be up around campus for the next few months.

Buzz lying in field for a panoramic photo

and we're off!! New Wave started all alone at the pin-end of the start line, and we got off a great start -- tight reach with the spinnaker up for a while, then jib up to cross toward Alcatraz without getting caught in a big wind hole behind Angel Island, & trying to get into the strongest ebb current which would help pull us out past Alcatraz.

in this pursuit race, we had to round both Angel Island & Alcatraz, but each boat can choose which direction they want to go in. Buzz and Ralf pretty quickly settled on clockwise for us, i.e. Alcatraz first, then around the western side of Angel & back toward Richmond through Raccoon Strait...

I don't know why these bees are reading/attacking this book. But that's why I love it. Reykjavik.

Native bee (possibly Leioproctus but I am not sure) really tucking into the Easer Cassia (Senna pendula var. glabrata) growing by the side of the road in a suburban street in the Blue Mountains. The bees love this small tree and I see them tucking into their flowers and making very audible buzzing sounds as they shake free the pollen and pack it (look how they pack it!!!) onto their legs. Sadly this plant is a serious weed in Australia and has popped up everywhere in national parks, taking the place of native plants. Sadder still, is it was originally brought to this country as an ornamental for gardens, when we have 3 native species that that are now rare to endangered. The Brush Senna (Senna acclinis) is endangered but looks nearly identical to the once-coveted South American ornamental. I just purchased a Brush Senna to put in the garden in the hopes of helping to conserve the species and also to attract these big, beautiful, buzzy native bees!
