Just a little Buttercup that I found in the yard, shot with the help of the sun for backlighting. As for the size, approximately 1 Inch. For the Macro Mondays group, "Backlit" theme.
Meyer Optik 50mm f/1.8 Oreston, single image shot at f/5.6. Probably with Nikon PK-13, 27.5mm extension tube.

Buttercups and daisies,
Oh, the pretty flowers;
Coming ere the spring time,
To tell of sunny hours.
When the trees are leafless;
When the fields are bare;
Buttercups and daisies
Spring up here and there.
Mary Howitt
Buttercups are a large genus of flowering plants called Ranunculus. It has yellow, shiny petals, and grows wild in many places. It is poisonous to eat for humans and cattle, but when dry the poison is not active
Having some fun with my Pentacon 50mm f/1.8 (the EXIF data is wrong), just seeing what kind of bokeh can happen with the little buttercups that pop up in the yard. Pretty much SOOC with minor RAW conversion and cropping.
The familiar and widespread buttercup of gardens throughout Northern Europe (and introduced elsewhere) is the creeping buttercup Ranunculus repens, which has extremely tough and tenacious roots. Two other species are also widespread, the bulbous buttercup Ranunculus bulbosus and the much taller meadow buttercup Ranunculus acris. In ornamental gardens, all three are often regarded as weeds.
Buttercups usually flower in the spring, but flowers may be found throughout the summer, especially where the plants are growing as opportunistic colonizers, as in the case of garden weeds.
The water crowfoots (Ranunculus subgenus Batrachium), which grow in still or running water, are sometimes treated in a separate genus Batrachium (from Greek βάτραχος bátrakhos, "frog"). They have two different leaf types, thread-like leaves underwater and broader floating leaves. In some species, such as R. aquatilis, a third, intermediate leaf type occurs.
Ranunculus species are used as food by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including the Hebrew character and small angle shades. Some species are popular ornamental flowers in horticulture, with many cultivars selected for large and brightly coloured flowers.
Taken about 40 minutes away from where I live near a church that is just coming up for its 1000 year birthday. I keep going back to this place as not many people venture there and you can sit and listen to the Skylarks and Nightingales.

Buttercup, most likely creeping buttercup (Ranunculus repens) flower in full bloom.
Kwiat jaskra, najpewniej jaskra rozłogowego (Ranunculus repens) w pełni rozkwitu.
That's a buttercup flower and if you know how big they are you know how close this is ... about 3:1 with the crop. The A7RIV allows for considerable cropping while maintaining high resolution. It's an expensive camera but it 'doubles' your lens inventory in a manner of speaking. In APS-C mode you are still taking a 26 megapixel photo. WARNING & DISCLAIMER: it fills memory cards and hard drives fast!
If anyone can tell me what kind of bug that is please let me know in the comments.

The buttercups reach toward the light and open to it without thinking anything. How would it work for them, if they tried to define their own or remain inchoate looking for it within themselves? Worse than simply accepting what is. That much is obvious. In a simple way, and by our powers of reason, nature shows us something more profound than thinking.
May every one of us reach toward the light today, not in some foolish sense about however we choose to define it, but in wherever we can really find it. May we like flowers open to realities beyond ourselves and the tightly self-referential.
It is only by reaching for the sun and opening toward it, that bees come grocery shopping and relaying messages. It is only by taking that risk and being that frail and temporary thing in the world that honey is made, and life goes on, and more buttercups are born.
One from earlier in the year, when I popped to wensleydale for the sunset. The buttercup fields where very vivid this year.
The Buttercups are starting to bloom! OK, so this is a good and a bad thing. The good is because these are among my favorite flowers and my weed filled "lawn" has them in abundance. So Beautiful! And as you can see they are great for the pollinators (anyone know what this one is?) The Bad thing is that it means lawn mowing season is about to begin! LOL I try to hold off on the mowing until most of the "weed" flowers are done. The purple & white violets and all the other tiny little volunteers. The buttercups are about the last and I have been known to mow around the largest clumps of them. :)
Ok there are no buttercups in this pic but Mr. Dark your wife is still laughing about this whole convo...❤️
