A touch of green brings some peace to a hot and busy day. I wondered how much different our mood would be without that bit of greenery and its story to ponder as we waited for the bus to leave. Mykonos, Greece

Although I had the window wide open and the way into the vastness of the summery landscape was accessible, the bus driver was extremely patient. He just stayed in his place and held the steering wheel tightly in his hands. No passenger far and wide, no one to see – no one who had planned an excursion into the countryside. The chirping of the birds sounded tempting, and the buzzing of the insects (who peeped in curiously and used the wide-open window to examine my house for possibly interesting food sources) actually suggested that a little more people would be out and about. But maybe he should have done his job better in London ... That's where this little bus originally came from. It is a souvenir from my husband's father, probably brought back from a trip in the 1960s, as a small gift ... and yes, the bus is actually in the windowsill – in a row with a Trabi and a VW Passat ;-)

Da kommt dieser kleine Bus nämlich ursprünglich her.

Let's not forget the shopkeepers, 'bus drivers, train drivers, road sweepers as well and those in the NHS and all those other workers who are out there each day!
I am guessing that these fellows are Chinese tour bus drivers who are wallowing away the time as their tourist guests are off exploring the surrounding Beijing Olympic Park.
"So let me get this right, Sir. You say you saw a moose driving a red double-decker bus? Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the car."

Oh, look at this fine feathered scene on Dublin's Camden Street! The number 15 bus, proudly crisscrossing the city from Ballycullen Road to the heart of the action, has parked itself right outside Camden Rotisserie—where the chickens are clearly plotting their escape! With its green and yellow glory, this double-decker is the unsung hero of Dublin’s streets, dodging traffic and delivering passengers past every Centra in sight. Maybe the bus driver’s secret plan is to grab a chicken sandwich mid-route!
Speaking of routes, the 15 bus knows Dublin like the back of its hand—or should we say, wing? It weaves past Camden’s clucking hotspots, zips by Centra for a quick snack break, and keeps the city’s chicken-obsessed commuters on schedule. Rumor has it, the chickens at Camden Rotisserie have a special signal for the bus to slow down—just in case they need a lift out of town! Next stop: freedom, or at least a detour to the next Centra!
And let’s not forget the Centra shop, standing tall beside this poultry pandemonium. While the 15 bus rolls on, it’s the perfect pit stop for anyone who’s peckish after a wild ride. With Camden chickens on one side and a convenience store on the other, this street corner is the ultimate Dublin mashup—where buses, birds, and buns collide in hilarious harmony!

I was waiting for the ferryboat and suddenly this old bus stopped before me. If they had not that modern suitcases then the passengers and the busdriver made me go back into time.

I was going through my old photos from a trip to Reno earlier this year. I totally forgot about these two photos.
Does this look dangerous to anyone else? Is that a camera, phone, or secret bus driver device?
The busdrivers are on strike today and tomorrow, so today I had to use my bike to get to Almere Centrum trainstation. And it's been great. Especially with this kind of weather. I'll try to leave my house earlier tomorrow to take more pictures.

Not strictly 'street' but I couldn't resist asking them to give us a wave.

Piece done for his bus driving girlfriend, of her and miserable old Blakey from classic British tv comedy 'On the Buses.'
Blakey was played by Poplar born actor Stephen Lewis, who also wrote the story & then play 'Sparrows Can't Sing', which was turned into a successful film of the early 1960s, starring Barbara Windsor.
