Dhaka is a restless city, which makes us tired. The continuous jams in the road, the sound, the noise, the crowd. All the elements makes us tired. Mentally & physically. It’s been almost three years that I’ve been living here. It’s a heartless city compared to the one I used to live in. No one knows the person next to him/her. No one offers a smile.
You will grow old here, but none will care. None will have the time to listen to your story. You would have to struggle for your life in your wrinkled skin. I shot this last week in Paltan. This old man was sleeping tired in the bus. May be he was going to collect his pensions. Maybe he was going to fight a case to earn his rights. Tired he was, of his old age, of this city. But, none was there to do it for him.

I’ve been thinking about doing a long term photographic project on something for quite a while. But as I'm probably the worst guy at generating any kind of idea nothing really clicked..well..Until today.
I was going to Paltan and suddenly it hit me, Why not do a series on people in buses? Bus being the most used transportation medium iby the common people and all..
I will try to show people, their emotions and actions during a bus ride in this bustling metropolis named Dhaka.
I'll start with this one. One with a bus contractor/helper. This is the guy, who is inseparable to any bus service prevailing in the city. He collects the bus fairs. Easy job, is it?
No way!
It's one of the most trying jobs out there in the streets. Takes him from counting the money in his hands as you can see here to fighting(verbally) unruly students who demand half bus fairs for themselves.
