Near Batu - East Java - Indonesia

These red-whiskered bulbuls (pycnonotus jocosus) got into a shouting match when the pair on the left decided that this was their branch. The interloper on the right put up a bit of verbal resistance but soon flew off under a combined assault. Photographed in Trou D'Eau Douce, Mauritius.

Stripe-Throated Bulbul

This kind of bulbul is found on both lowlands and hills in the north of Peninsular Malaysia but progressively confined to hilly area southwards. This species frequent gathers in small parties to feed in fruiting shrubs, typically feeding in lower storey and also fringing vegetation. Call a rising then descending series of about eight melodious notes.

Yellow-vented Bulbul, Merbah, Pycnonotus goiavier

The most common birds in gardens and parks. This species have been adapted well living close to humans. They can be fed with bananas, papayas or other fruits even on bird table in the garden. The nest is a shallow cup built low inside a dense bush.

I am not able to see the red streak on this bulbul.

Wonder if my identification of this bird is incorrect ?

Or is the red streak on its chest which is not visible from this angle.

The black-crested bulbul is 18.5–19.5 cm in length. The head is black with a distinct crest and a yellow iris, while the rest of its body is greenish yellow above and yellow below, and a greenish-black tail. The bill and the feet are black. In the subspecies R. f. johnsoni, the throat is red. Both the male and female are similar in plumage; young birds are slightly duller.
