The space between the building and the parking lot is ready to pave. The four man holes in this picture cover 5,000 gal. of water storage to be used in the process. The water will be captured from the gutters and downspouts, saving city water charges for water that will never make to the sewer system. It will evaporate.

Located near Children’s Park and serving as a bookend for the eastern side of campus and gateway to downtown, the stunning 94,000-square-foot building houses nine academic departments, 22 classrooms, five laboratories, and a large, 130-seat tiered lecture hall, as well as faculty offices, conference space, breakout rooms, collaborative spaces, an indoor arboretum, and a coffee shop hosted by Lovebird Coffee, owned and operated by alumna Rebecca Turi (Business Administration, ’21). The BSS Building is also home to the Community Legal Information Clinic and the Gender and Sexuality Equity Coalition.

More than 2,000 yards of concrete has been place for the Integrated Sciences Complex 16-inch base slab. Utility excavation and work continue on both the east and south sides of the ISC construction site. Work continues in the service and supply tunnel.

May 2, 2021 - This is a view of the humongous cantilever structure which will support the large meetings rooms located in the new Hilton Tower Downtown Columbus. Hilton Tower is across North High Street from the Hilton Columbus Downtown. The new 28 story hotel tower will have 460 guest rooms and between the two hotels it will be the largest hotel in the state of Ohio with nearly 1,000 rooms. Scheduled to open in 2022.
Construction Management Associate Professor Marie Patterson (center) was invited to the construction site of the new BSS building to speak with construction workers of Turner Construction Company to facilitate a 10-15 minute discussion on Day #5 of a sponsored “Construction Inclusion Week” on Friday, October 20, 2023 in Chico, Calif. Patterson spoke on Community Engagement offerings for 2023 that have been expanded into three broad areas: Education, Shelter, and Wellness. This broadens the reach and allows firms of any level to impact their local communities.
