On August 28, 2015, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the New York Power Authority has finished $2.1 million in energy efficiency upgrades at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North Railroad North White Plains Train Yard. This energy saving project, completed under the Governor's BuildSmart NY program, will save New York State more than $328,000 in energy costs and remove approximately 1,280 tons of greenhouse gases annually.

On August 28, 2015, Governor Andrew M. BUILDSMART NY AND TOWN OF ISLIP ARE TEAMING UP FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT LED STREETLIGHTING FROM SOLAIS LIGHTING GROUP.

Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) and Alltech have announced a new fundraising partnership that will have BCTC students selling Alltech’s Café Citadelle® brand coffee and keeping a portion of the profits to benefit student organizations and the BuildSmart Campaign for the Newtown Campus. Sale profits will also go to support two primary schools and economic development projects in Haiti as part of Alltech’s 501c3 Sustainable Haiti Project.
