throughout our trip in the adirondacks, we were constantly dealing with very hungry black flies. these horrible bugs literally land on you and just start eating you. to say the least, we were covered in bites.
as much as i love to post "flattering" photos of myself... this is so gross i have to share. i went to the dr yesterday... they think i was bitten by a bug and then the venom and a germ mixed and effed up my eye. SWEET!
Almost 4,000 miles and SEVERAL bugbites later... dipping our toes in our new pond. Of course, there is algae at my feet....my new Fucus
I fell asleep out back sunning myself and must have gotten stung or bitten on the foot by something...it's swollen and painful to walk
We are so proud of the kids. They both volunteered as Apprentice Counselors, which are role models and aid the counselors in all aspects of camp, each logging in over 300 hours. Instead of wasting away the summer watching tv or playing video games, they worked outside with kids from all different backgrounds, enduring countless bugbites, and working through the heat and rain. They improved their skills in leadership, teamwork, and working with younger children. This is Zoe's second summer, and John's first - he really didn't want to do it at first, but I think he did enjoy himself.
It was an awefully boring day at work and because of the weather I decided to take the afternoon off for some shooting. I visited my friends the grebes once more and I was glad to see that the remaining chick was still around.
It was a good decision to go shooting, when I arrived at the spot it was slightly overcast. Mother nature provided me with her natural softbox. And, lady fortune smiled upon me as the grebes were in a place where I had acces to nice covered seat on grass with 2 openings in the reed. A spot fishermen would love.
I loved it too because I was able to get down on my belly for this lowlevel POV. It took me some bugbites, a stiff neck and a muddy camera but I had a hell of a time and some very nice shots :)

I think this about all of the bites I received within the first couple of hours of sleep my first night in Bucharest. I soon closed the window.

I thought this was a misquito bite, but now i'm not sure. because the red area is actually pretty swollen. and i haven't scratched it in over 48 hours.
we grow 'em big in Texas!
This Woodlouse spider would bit the paperclip, and then wouldn't let go for a few seconds, even when being lifted into the air. It would bite down and then chew 5-3 times before it let go. Now imagine if that was your finger.
Click the photo below for some cool shots of it pissed off:
There was some weird insect at my uncle's place that bit up my arms and feet. They were awful and huge and itchy. Ech.
