The famous methane bubbles of Abraham Lake.
I make a yearly pilgrimage to this spot, which is one of the best places to see the bubbles in the Rockies due to the incredibly windy nature of the region that blows all of the snow off the ice. Case in point: the winds were about 60km/h when we were out shooting this sunset, and were strong enough that if you put down your tripod and let go, it would slide in a mad dash away from you across the ice!
The bubbles themselves are methane from plant life on the lake floor that gets frozen on its way towards the surface. They are absolutely fascinating, and I easily spend hours shooting on every visit!

I've finally got both my new macro extension tubes from Santa (OK Amazon). So time to hide in the kitchen and take photos of odd things. Tonight's experiment was bubbles (my wife really won't understand this!)

While we tried to be careful walking around the edges of these items seemingly floating in the lake, it was also fun catching both the object but also ripples and bubbles.

Reflection of the landscape in a bubble gives a fisheye appearance. The colors come from the oils on the bubble surface.
No processing but curves/contrast in Lightroom, this isn't projected with software.

Here is a fountain that creates bubbles, and, as far as I know, there is no soap or detergent in the water. And, the bubbles persist in a balance with the sprinkle and flow of the water.

The theme for this week's Macro Monday is bubbles and my intention was to take part in it. But it seems my dog had other ideas :)) By the time I got out my macro lens, the bubbles had dog gone disappeared :)) HMM and thank you for all dear Flickr friends!

Something to do on a boring day: put soap in a glass, place a pretty object in the bottom, use the light of the window, hand hold because of the awkward position, then take a lot of shots to get one sharp.

This is an image from earlier this year that I have re-edited. I used a bubble machine in the garden. The coloured bubbles are the result of reflections from the garden greenery and flowers.

for those of you outside the UK it's probable you haven't heard of the Eden Project.
Without a long explanation I'll put the link here to show how it came about and the various events that takes place there too ... music events are held there with Elton John playing a concert in Cornwall for the first time in 30 years, back in 2015 ...

I'm finishing some last photos this evening, from my nephew Adrian's 1st Birthday photo shoot nearly eight months ago. I've had so many other assignments to edit in between that I've partly forgot that there were some left.
But it's fun looking at these cute photos again. Yesterday I photographed an adorable newborn baby girl, but she don't want to be on other media than instagram, so you'll have to follow me there to see her photos when I publish them.
