Boasting the sun-filled and sunset-laden South Florida skies, The Guitar Hotel is truly an architectural marvel that redefines the South Florida skyline.
The show is a daily spectacular featuring a series of orchestrated outdoor music and light shows showcasing the LED lights built into all sides of the brand new and immaculate The Guitar Hotel. The lights are programmed to change color and intensity and are choreographed to different songs. Six high-powered beams of light accentuate the production by projecting at least 20,000 feet into the sky. The six lights mimic the strings of an imaginary guitar neck.
Anglin's Flishing Pier is the longest pier in South Florida. It is open 24/7 for fishing & featuring a cafe & occasional live music.
The Pier first opened on November 24 1963. It has been, and still is today, an important part of the City, Lauderdale by the Sea offering tourists and fishermen a Great Time. In 2006 the pier suffered damage from Hurricane Wilma and at that time the pier was only open halfway and lost what had been done from the last storm that had damaged it the year before that.
The Pier, as of the Fall of 2006 is open and operating 24 hours a day.
The new owners our happy to keep this Fishing pier going and will be bringing in new ideas and innovative concepts to better offer a unique and pleasurable experience for both the Fisherman and Sightseer. They have ideas for creating ocean viewing windows through the decking of the pier while you stroll. This would give the patrons the chance to look down and through the pier to see the many different sub-tropical and tropical fish that live around the pier in their habitat and also being witness to some unbelievable catches of which so many are in Awe.

This image shows "Pride," the famous bald eagle of Pembroke Pines, with his latest offspring. This is what I was told anyways by another photographer that seemed to be in the know. I visit the nest area often during the winter and the early spring to see this marvelous creature. Pride returns every year with various girlfriends (so I hear). He and his mate(s) have been returning in winter for, at least, the last ten years. There have been several eaglets hatched by now!

Miramar is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 122,041. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which is home to over 6 million people.
Miramar was founded by A.L. Mailman to serve as a "bedroom community" for nearby Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Mailman bought the original property he was to develop from H.D. Perry, Sr. in 1953. He built 56 homes on the property that were inexpensive homes of concrete and flat roofs. These homes sold quickly because of the low cost of both the homes and the land, and the city of Miramar came into being.
The city was incorporated on May 26, 1955 and was named for the Miramar area of Havana, Cuba where Mailman had a summer home (Miramar translates to "look at the sea" in Spanish). At the time of incorporation, the city had a population of less than two hundred people. With approximately 2.9 square miles land area, Miramar's original city boundaries were Southwest 64 Avenue on the east, University Drive on the west, the Dade County line on the south, and Pembroke Road on the north. On June 20, 1955, the city's first mayor (Robert Gordon) and city council were sworn in, all of whom were appointed by the governor and served until January 1959, at which time the first municipal election was held.[7] Mayor Robert Gordon is the individual who is attributed to have given the city its name. The city seal is inscribed with the motto "Beauty and Progress".
H.D. Perry Sr.'s part in Miramar did not cease with selling the land to Mailman for development. He is recognized as one of the foremost pioneers in the history of Miramar. His character and civic-activities influenced not only the lives of early residents, but continues to the present day, as evidenced by the schools and parks in the city which bear his family's name. Many long-time residents fondly recall the community barbecues hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Perry during those early years. Others are grateful to Mr. Perry for the lessons in animal husbandry, which he conducted for the benefit of Miramar's youth so that they could learn something of farm life.
The only major roads when Miramar was developed were U.S. 441 which was a two-lane road at that time, Hallandale Beach Boulevard to Southwest 66 Terrace and Pembroke Road which was a dirt road to University Drive. There were no other transportation routes of any kind supplying access to the new community. Miramar's early city fathers advocated the philosophy of planned and controlled growth. The city adopted a Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 1972 before cities and counties were mandated to do so. This provided the framework for the orderly development of future growth. Two-thirds of the land within city limits is currently undeveloped.

Overall the 2019 butterfly was a slow one for me. By comparison In 2018 I saw nearly 300 species and had more than 60 lifers. This year I was well below 150 species and my lifer total for this year will probably end up being less than 20. This was one of my 2019 lifers. What this all means is next year I need to do a better job of being in the right place at the right time.

Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is located just south of the Palm Beach County line. The city is named for the numerous deer that once roamed the area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 75,018. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census.
Deerfield Beach's history dates back to 1890 when a small settlement named Hillsborough was developed along the Hillsboro River. As the population grew to 20 by 1898, the settlement was now served by its own post office and the town was named Deerfield for the deer that grazed along the Hillsboro River.
By the early twentieth century, as the town's population continued to grow, the Florida East Coast Railroad constructed tracks en route to Miami bisecting Deerfield. Deerfield's early settlers were mostly farmers who grew pineapples, tomatoes, green beans, squash and fished along the Intracoastal Waterway. Through the 1940s, Deerfield remained a largely agricultural based community, but in 1939 the town's name was changed to Deerfield Beach to let tourists know it has a beach.
