Thank you, Stacy Metzger, for volunteering to "Facebook Live" the event on the Forest Grove Facebook Community.
The event happened
Wednesday, October 24, 6 - 8 p.m.
Forest Grove, Oregon
I live tweeted the event. I've posted it to wakelet, which I'm going to try now that Storify is no more. Note that I did this entirely independently, I'm not affiliated with the CPO nor the city other than being a booster: wke.lt/w/s/Oy8Pl
If you want to go directly to see it on Twitter, then here's the first tweet of the evening:
twitter.com/jayne_a_broad/status/1055260143330312192
and here's the last:
twitter.com/jayne_a_broad/status/1055290059757281280
I tried to capture and summarize every statement, question and answer as best I could in real time. Candidate answers to questions are in threaded tweets. Please note that I'm oh-so-imperfect and my tweets may not reflect the exact words that were said - I may have misheard, I may have mistyped, I may have missed something.

The KNX/1070am transmitter, in Torrance's 52-acre Columbia Park, a few miles south of LAX in Los Angeles' South Bay. The two facilities—radio transmitter and city park—demonstrate a too-rare symbiosis between public and private interests.
KNX' original location, when first licensed in 1927, was at the corner of Gower and Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. It was 500 watts on 890am. The second location, licensed in 1930, was for a 25,000 watt transmitter on 1050am, sited on what's now Gaylor, southwest of the bend in the 101/Ventura Freeway, southwest of the Sepulveda Dam in Encino, in the San Fernando Valley. In 1934 power at that site was raised to 50,000 watts, still the maximum for any station in the U.S. There were later requests to raise power to 250,000 watts and 500,000 watts, both dismissed (the latter in 1938). By this time KNX was owned by CBS, and licensed to "COLUMBIA BROADCASTING SYSTEM OF CALIFORNIA, INC." That same year the station got permission to move to the current location in Torrance. An advantage there was (and remains) the higher ground conductivity of the land there, and a better angle across ocean water (which has the highest ground conductivity) toward coastal areas from Santa Barbara down to San Diego.
While the station has applied in the past to operate directionally, it has been non-directional for the duration, and has been one of a handful of "clear channel" stations, meaning the only one on that frequency in North America. Today "clears" are no longer protected outside a 750-mile radius from the transmitter. (The smaller second tower is an auxiliary one, put up originally as a temporary main one after vandals dropped the 1938 tower by cutting a guy wire. This is one reason the guy anchors are surrounded by fencing and barbed wire. Contrast that with the guy anchors of similar towers of WBZ/1030am, another clear channel 50,000 watt station, in Hull, MA. By the way, both KNX and WBZ have towers more than a half-wave high, mostly owing to having been licensed originally to a lower (longer wavelength) frequency (990 for WBZ and 1050 for KNX).
KNX is also one of the few stations that broadcast in HD, which gave it a much better sound on radios equipped to receive HD Radio signals. Alas, this was discontginued. KNX also now identifies primarily using its 97.1 FM frequency, even though FM coverage is limited to areas within sight of Mt. Wilson, while this AM facility covers the entire West, and is listenable most nights in Hawaii.
Here is some more history, from the Daily Breeze blog, in 2009.
