This was the seal pup I photographed earlier. My little lost soul!!! He's the one I kept returning to who seemed to be missing his mother. I was slightly reassured by his energy.

Emmy from the British Wildlife Centre showing how to perform a clean dive into the water.

No burst mode was used in the capture of this incredible otter!

The dried grass weighs nothing at all but he expertly navigated amongst it.

Red squirrel enjoying breakfast at British Wildlife Centre, UK

Photographed in 2020 at British Wildlife Centre. Such a beautiful Otter. I try not to have favourites but from a pup, she was always so close and so curious.

Kenco was a somewhat reluctant model. He was photographed at the Ark, Lincolnshire who rescued him from the pet trade.

When you are surrounded by such beauty, sometimes all you want to do is just sit and be with them, admiring their beauty.

I know, I know she looks quite big here, but whilst I cannot remember her name, she is a Weasel and is just tiny perfection at 30mph!!!

They eat... birds, voles and mice though are also partial to cat food and eat in all weathers!

Photographed with unswerving admiration at the British Wildlife Centre, Surrey, UK

Having a moment with a wet red squirrel photographed by a very damp photographer at British Wildlife Centre, Lingfield, Surrey UK. (You don't honestly notice the rain when you are in the zone!)

Look closely and you see no ordinary pet cat!!!

McTavish and his wondrous eyes photographed at British Wildlife Centre, UK

Most pups tend to sleep off a rather large meal. This grey seal pup was very lively and a complete cutey... lots of engagement with the camera.

Donna Nook is a wonderful place to visit on the Lincolnshire coast. There tends to be a really biting cold wind coming in from the sea but you forget all that with the wonders of what is on that beach. My friend and I witnessed a birth and..... unfortunately lots of fighting between naturally protective mothers protecting their pups and males wanting their pick of who to mate with. Then of course there are the numerous pups who, when awake, will grace your camera with some lovely images.

Red squirrel enjoying his morning feast at British Wildlife Centre, UK

Fascinating teeny tiny gorgeous creatures that Harvest Mice are. They are constantly on the go, meaning there are constant opportunities for capturing cuteness! I never tire of these sweet little models.

3 month otter cub edging closer. His mum kept veering him off. British wildlife centre

Quillanelle the Hedgehog photographed at British Wildlife centre, UK.

Heartbreakingly, the wonderful Hedgehog is now vulnerable to extinction in the UK. This is due to people using pesticides and rat poison, a loss of habitat and hedgerow removal and garden injuries from strimmers and burning leaves. For some obscure reason, when rescued, people tend to give them milk which can kill them.

The fight for access to females starts with vocalisations... and if that doesn't put off any competitors, the two rivals parallel-walk before the red deer equivalent of fisticuffs start...... These two had gone some way before they locked antlers.

Taken at Bushy Park, London.

I ventured out after many weeks indoors and my bravery was rewarded seeing this beauty. My late uncles favourite bird. RIP Uncle John. This one is for you.

Kingfisher @ Connaught Waters.

Grey seal pups spend a lot of time on their back, either calling for mum or sleeping. Captured at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire.

A Red deer calf gets up after a downpour and has a quick shake. Photographed at Bushy Park, London.

The sweetest face!! But so very shy. He was nibbling on grass but hyper vigilant. This incredible species is under threat in the UK due mainly to habitat loss.

And Mink. Apparently Mink like to munch on water vole!

I waited an obscene amount of time to see a glimpse of this incredible vole. This is the first time in many years that I was able to spot him. The secret is to stand still and not chat with anyone!!!

A little factlet for you all. 'Ratty' in the 'Wind in the willows' novel was a water vole.

Tawny owl Florence mightily interested in something in the tree!!

A little pre christmas factlet.... Tawny owls can hear a little mouse's heart beating from 50 feet away. They are also almost silent in flight.

This young Buck Rabbit was caught out in the open and was not quite sure what to do next. Or perhaps he was just enjoying having his picture taken.

Harvest mouse photographed using 100mm macro lens at British wildlife centre. They move up and down grasses all day long and use their tail for balance.

One of the things I really love about the British Wildlife Centre is that whilst they rescue wildlife, they promote wildlife-friendly practices. Any recovered harvest mice or their progeny is eventually released in the wetlands park.
