This is Roger O'Dell, drummer and founder member of the band Shakatak. Still going strong since the 80's and still touring the world.

I took this picture of Roger during soundcheck. The theatre load in bay doors to the right were open and this is all natural light.

I was working at the Ipswich Regent Theatre in Suffolk, playing guitar with soul singer Simon Chiverton.

Also on the bill were 80's bands Aswad (who supported Simon), Alexander O'Neal and Shakatak.

RJ's Warner Place E2 by Traxcitement

RJ's was a soulboy pub in Bethnal Green off Hackney Road. In the late 70's / early 80's it had DJ's playing Funk, Jazz-Funk, Soul and Brit-Funk music. It was run by Roy James hence the initials and there was also an R.J.'s Afloat, which was a restaurant on a boat moored on the canal. The pub was previously the Old Horns and later became The Jeremiah Bullfrog. The building is still extant, but is no longer a public house.

Some of the records I remember being played: Mystic Merlin - Just can't give you up, LOTW - Time, Kleer - Get Tough, Level 42 - Love Games, Wish - Nice and Soft, Crusaders - Inherit the wind, Junior - Mama used to say, Freeez - Southern freeez, Beggar & Co. - Somebody help me out, Breakfast Band - LA14, Fantasy - You're too late (instr.), William De Vaughan - Be thankful for what you've got, Ray Carless - Tarantula Walk, Young & Co. - I like what you're doing to me and the night always ended with Frank Sinatra's New York New York,
