Bringing the archives a little closer ... this was just over a year ago @ Pine Log WMA in Georgia. We saw quite a few Orangetips that day - and none on our next visit. Also got Zebra swallowtails and more wildflowers - I'll post next.

OK....its not actually bacon , its a huge Perch from the looks of it!!This male Osprey returns to the nest seemingly skateboarding ...bringing home the Sushimi to a waiting female, sitting on a nest. I kind of like the skateboarding look!@!! This was photographed at one of two different nests I took a little look at a couple of weeks ago to check to see if returning nesting pairs had returned to Eastern Ontario, essentially along the St Lawrence River east and west of Morrisburg , Ontario.

There is no shortage of excitement in the mountains of Glacier National Park. This storm followed a perfect sunny morning in early September.

Infamous for bringing heavy precipitation and storms, cumulonimbus clouds are huge clouds that can spread between the differing levels of the troposphere, towering up into very high altitudes (you can’t really miss them). Their tops seem to resemble an anvil.

I believe this Grey Catbird has a dragonfly abdomen in her mouth. She is bringing it back to her nest to feed her babies.

One interesting fact of this bird is that Gray Catbirds are relatives of mockingbirds and thrashers, and they share that group’s vocal abilities, copying the sounds of other species and stringing them together to make their own song.

I do not think the bird in my photograph will be singing any songs with this food in his mouth.

This drawing was made collaboratively by a remarkable Chicago based artist couple. The drawing brings together their respective practices in a whimsical image that speak (for me) of the tenuous existence of someone like Temma (the indirect subject of all of the works in this project).

This is one of the 23 works in the upcoming enigmatic group exhibition titled "Deposition: Drawn" at North Park University. Opening reception on February 14 (Valentine's Day!) 4:30 - 6:30 and running through March 9.

This exhibition is an unusual mash-up of my work as curator (primarily as gallery director at @npuchicago ) and my work as an artist (particularly work that is related to my most frequent subject, my daughter Temma). I sent each of the participating artists a unique prompt which was for me somehow related to Temma. The participating artists then made a drawing related to their prompt. They also developed an accompanying text / title for the drawing. And then they sent that text to me along with a high resolution scan of their drawing.
