Trailing a beard of starlings this gent walks past a window on Brighton Pier. For those that don't know, Brighton is famous for it's starling murmurations, that phenomenon where thousands of starlings swoop and whirl in a unified beautiful synchronisation, looking almost like a single organism. One of the many wonders of nature. Unfortunately it was too early in the season to see the actual thing but this depiction painted (or stencilled?) on a window on Brighton Pier made for a fun prop for this kind of street shot.

I was only in Brighton for a walk yesterday, but I never go there without my camera. I'm sure you won't be surprised to know that I decided to wait for the starlings. It's still very early in the season, of course, so their numbers are small, but they're still a joy to watch.

This shot was taken from Palace Pier, Brighton. The starlings perform most evenings through the winter months at dusk. The display is a sight to behold....Nature is INCREDIBLE!
