The brightest moon in almost 69 years will be lighting up the sky this week in a treat for star watchers around the globe.

If the moon is within 10% of its closest distance to the earth at the moment of full moon, it is considered to be a super moon, according the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London.

A full moon in April is called a Pink Moon – the name originates from the native American tradition of naming full moon according to seasons. [...]. Its name is associated with the blooming of pink wildflowers called creeping phlox or moss phlox in early spring.
This super moon [which] is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at its closest distance (perigee) to the earth, i.e., 356,907 km. [on April 07], was at 2.35 pm and will be the biggest and brightest full moon of 2020 at 10.35 pm EDT.
The super moon will have its usual golden hue at the horizon and will be white and the brightest as it moves overhead. [...] The best time to watch the super pink moon [in Vancouver] is just after moonrise on Tuesday, April 7th and just before moonset on Wednesday, April 8th. [...].

I was only going to keep this OR the kittens as public but now I can't decide which I like better so I will keep them both.. ha!
This caption is a long one, but some good stuff I think! The Bozeman Local's once a week trip to Livingston has been cut down after RY Timber suffered a large fire. Without the summer MOW tie cars or RY centerbeams, there can be weeks where one or two cars makes up the train. On this gorgeous winter day however, they had ahold of 60+ cars heading to storage, which really fills out the photo.
If I asked which locomotive in this picture was the most state of the art, would you say the SD70ACe? Probably, but you'd be wrong. Both the MRL 404 and 405 are recent recipients of a ground up electrical rebuild. This was a significant investment in these locomotives, which bodes well for them in the future. Alas, with progress comes more erosion of the past. Sharp eyes will notice the #404 has lost its class lights, a casualty of functionally useless jewelry. While it is fairly tongue in cheek to suggest these units are more advanced than the SD70ACe, with an orange wave coming it certainly gives these old DRGW units a leg up on the competition when the chopping block arrives!
