The iconic Brooklyn Bridge, my favourite place in New York, hope you like it in black & white?

Brooklyn Bridge was the first fixed crossing of the East River opened in 1883. It was also the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time of its opening, with a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m) and a deck 127 ft (38.7 m) above mean high water. The span was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge or the East River Bridge but was officially renamed the Brooklyn Bridge in 1915.

The Brooklyn Bridge is the southernmost of four toll-free vehicular bridges connecting Manhattan Island and Long Island, with the Manhattan, Williamsburg, and Queensboro bridges to the north. Only passenger vehicles and pedestrian and bicycle traffic are permitted. A major tourist attraction since its opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an icon of New York City.

Beneath the overpass, where the 190 North leads to Niagara Falls and the 190 South guides travelers into Buffalo, winter has carved a scene of stark beauty. The cold steel and concrete contrast against the quiet ripples of the water, while the snow-covered landscape adds a serene touch to the city's industrial heartbeat.

This frozen moment, captured in January 2025, highlights the resilience of Buffalo's infrastructure and the quiet solitude found beneath its bridges. A moody, monochrome perspective on a space often overlooked, yet filled with symmetry, reflection, and the echoes of countless journeys. #Buffalo #WinterVibes

The new bridge over the River Clyde, Glasgow linking Partick and Govan had its official this morning, open to the public tomorrow. For many years, the little ferries like this one was the best way to get between Govan and Partick, the Govan side of the bridge ends at Water Row, where the ferry landing stage was and some of the infrastructure had been used as lamppost supports, nice touch.😀 #bridge #glasgowbridges #govan #partick #glasgow #southsideglasgow #westendglasgow #glasgowsouthside #glasgowwestend #riverclyde #clyderiver #bridgesofinstagram #bridgesoftheworld #clydeferries #clydeferry #ferry #passengerferry
