Swansea, Wales

In 1959, the latest addition to Martins Bank’s brand new South Western Region is this handsome looking branch at Swansea. Martins has long since been a fan of the “mock Tudor” look, and here are plenty of wooden beams to satisfy that particular craving. Sadly, Swansea is not part of Barclays’ dreams going forward, and the branch closes within a year or so of the merger. Still, as befits a building of this stature, (not to mention a vague resemblance to a wedding cake) the modern day occupants are a prestigious bridalwear company! (Also, a tattoo shop).

2nd posting of this series taken walking around Penryn. Used my Canon 16-35 and the Sigma MC-12 adapter for these shots. I'd forgotten just what a good lens it is.

I didn't know what to do with my arms here and ended up looking like a bouncer...

thanks for all the kind comments about my rear. I am really proud of this photo and really proud how nice I believe my hind end looks. I can tell you getting into this gown required a shoe horn.

Nervous? If I am I'll not let it show!

Bought this fabulous wedding dress many years ago from a charity shop for just £30. Brand new it still had all its tags in place!

Here we are then - 11th Dec and trying to use a tiny amount of strobe to create a lighting that wouldn't look out of place - although I could have cleared all the strobes and just over exposed the windows (but then the lamp and the interior would also have looked bleached out)

Newer Vision 5 camera left back with octobox (creating the highlight on Kiera's right cheek) quite low powered. Bog standard strobe, camera right into silver reflector low to mid power. It doesn't look it, or maybe it does, but that was a dark day.

I will endeavor to bring a series of photos of Indian bridal wear. Modern and traditional fused into a fine beast that you wear to your wedding. Some dresses are so heavy with the silver/zari work that you need two hands to lift them off the ground. I really pity the bride and the model who must endure this weighty fineness but I guess girls can manage that with great elan.

There are more dresses and the look and feel was kept to textured as per the rerquirement of the client.

To continue from where one left it earlier. Here is another admixture of styles.

This is a red and navy blue dress embellished with paisley and floral Kashmiri style of embroidery in dull gold thread. All this in an Empire cut.

The hemline sports sequin work

This is what is known as an "Anarkali" and is widely popular in India now a days as wedding attire.

Puffed sleeves and a buttoned Chinese collar make a strong presence of cross influences in the design fraternity.

The original idea was to have the model in an exotic confused Alice in Indian wonderland.

And do you know what? All these years later it still is for me!

The drag and tug of this train on my hips..the click of my heels on the tile are very exotic sensations while wearing this gown

a SELFTIMER! picture... the hardest task was to arrange the train of this gown. And of course the kneeling down, posing and smiling... all in under 10 seconds. Maybe I accomplished a new Worldrecord :-) I really need a remote for my camera!
