A bridal tradition to adorn the bride by applying henna to her body parts. This tradition remains an important custom among traditional families.

This building was constructed in 1927 and is the only one of the auto lodges built along the historic Columbia River Highway that still offers lodging. While it remains rustic, it has been extensively remodeled. The lodge is a popular wedding venue.
Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Bark. From the parking area the loop trail to the falls and back is about 700 metres.

What's that? You haven't seen a waterfall picture in a while? Never fear, Rich Border is here. On a recent trip to our beloved southern neighbor I made a quick dash down to Bridal Veil Falls. Me and another fifty people.... Situated on the amazing Columbia River gorge this two tiered beauty drops 118 feet down a shaft its gouged out for itself through a basalt wall. Blow it up and take it in, she's a wonderful sight.
I had taken some shots of the falls around the platform which is well down from the base of the falls and we were ready to pack it in when my wife suggested i go up to the base where i had been taking pictures of kids who made the climb. 1) There was a sign that read DO NOT PROCEED PAST THIS POINT. 2) Why would a loving wife suggest her husband venture up a rocky steep slope where kids were falling left and right. These questions haunted me as i made my way up to the base and took this shot. I could not get much closer - much to my wife's disappointment - as the spray from the falls made photography pointless.
Provo River.
Bridal Veil Falls is located up Provo Canyon; one of Utah’s Scenic Byways. This spectacular 600 foot tall two tiered waterfall was once home to the Bridal Veil Tram and the Eagle’s Nest Lodge. In 1996 an avalanche severely damaged the tram line and the Bridal Veil Fall Tram has been closed since. Today all that remains of the commercial operation is some crumbling old concrete structures that once housed the tram equipment. Source: Utah Outdoor Activities
Bridal Veil Falls
Columbia River Gorge
Oregon
July 2025
Bridal Veil Falls, located in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, is a picturesque two-tiered waterfall that cascades a total of about 120 feet through a lush, forested canyon. The falls resemble a bride’s flowing veil—hence the name.
This is in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon side, and most of the way down to Bridal Veil Falls. With the vastness and awesomeness of the area and many waterfalls, it is easy to go into sensual overload and miss the best photographs. I'm sure I did a ton of that but just had to shoot that nice little bridge through the trees if nothing else. Don't ask me exactly where I focused but I see it was at f16 thankfully and probably about 1/3 of the way in to the scene. The Hoya HD3 polarizer was on there for sure. A bit of saturation was added in PS using the Saturation blending mode which does not change the luminosity like usual.
Thank you for your warm and kind visits my friends - you are very much appreciated! :)

Yosemite National Park. Merced river in the fore ground. Gloomy day with clouds rolling in. Snow started later in the day and continued until they were forced to shut down the Park for weeks!
Seems to be a fairly popular name for waterfalls, as I've seen it before, on other locations.
This particular waterfall is in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota. Near drought conditions kept the flow to a trickle.

The tallest waterfall in Colorado, Bridal Veil falls over 300 ft., and is accompanied by one of the earliest hydroelectric power plants in Colorado, which powered a mining operation. The powerplant is still in operation.

Returning to Yosemite and back & white, on the trail to Lower Bridal Veil Falls-
The original inhabitants in Yosemite were the Miwoks. . There are a variety of very intriguing native American legends surrounding the Falls that you can google if interested. Here is one:
“Many moons ago, an Indian named Norita and a brave from a rival tribe, named Grey Eagle met and fell in love. They planned to meet near a streamlet high on the mountainside and elope to a land far away from both their tribes. On that fateful night, instead of her lover, Norita was confronted by braves from her own tribe. Fearing her lover had been destroyed she leaped from the high ledges.
Mother Nature was touched by her wild beauty, and she caught up Norita's streaming tresses and made from them a Bridal Veil of falling water. From her flowing gown an alter was formed on the face of the mountain. Then her spirit was sent out as a mist, causing a green carpet to spread over the mountainside.
The intruders fled while her saddened lover stood and gazed down at the strange yet beautiful transformation. His grief was more than he could bear, so out of compassion for his sorrow, Mother Nature molded his massive frames into the mountain and stretched his mighty shoulders high into the heavens like silent sentinels to guard over his loved one. His cries of anguish were softened into love calls to whisper forever.”
