I picked up this most impressive Next conical bra a long time ago in my One-Pound-Shop. Even then I wasn't sure if it was really me but at that price why not. I took some photos and got rid of it again which was a bit of a pity as I have such a varied wardbrobe I'm sure I could have made good use of it.
These foundation garments were made by the American company Warner's, the image is from their six page advertisement in Vogue Feb 1953. This is the text that went with it.
"As elegant and prophetic as the fashion it underscores! This newest Warner original, rising a fabulous five inches above your waist. Finest power net front and back to ease you into the strictest skirt.
The sides-an exquisite tracing of nylon and Orlon lace. Black with white-threaded lace or all white. # 977... $37.50. Warner's matching A'Lure bra-divinely stretchable! # 1077...$7.50."
This picture is a real gem, images of Dovima modelling corsets are as rare as hen's teeth!
It's the only one that I have seen of Dovima modeling foundation garments, and doesn't she look good in them.
These are excellent foundation garments, Dovima's bust was not as large as this in real life. (33")
The Ford Agency charged a lot more for their top models to model foundation garments, which is why this type of work was usually done by lesser mortals. Have you ever seen Jean Patchett, Evelyn Tripp, Suze Parker, Dorian Leigh, Sunny Harnett, etc modeling foundation garments?
Warner's must have paid a lot of money to have this picture taken, it was part of their six page advertisement in Vogue Feb 1953.
They must have specially wanted Dovima, because the other models are unknowns.

In early 2002, in a justified act of revenge, I stole my friend Andrea Zink's bra. You know, that fleshy, beige-coloured bra all girls own for under white or sheer tops.
I began a campaign to photograph as many friends, acquaintances and even family in the bra. Then I sent the photos to people I knew around the globe with as a postcard template which they printed out and mailed back to Andrea, convincing her that her bra was on a walkabout around the world—torturing her from each locale.
Andrea hated it. One day, figuring I must've been the cause of all this, she marched into my office and threw a particular postcard (#002 to be precise) at my head and yelled "Make it stop!"
I did not.
