I spent some more time in my garden late this afternoon enjoying the poppies. I love their crinkly petals when they're brand new.

I noticed this scene a few weeks ago as I drove past the store after the sun had set. What captured my attention was the contrast between the bold, artificial glow of the yellow disk in the store's sign and the gentle and serene natural sunset colours in the sky behind. It almost feels like the already-set sun is replaced by the yellow disk.

Czekaliśmy na ten pociąg chyba cały dzień, oprócz paru pomniejszych atrakcji miał to być gwóźdź programu. I już jak straciliśmy nadzieję na to, że go zobaczymy, w ostatnich promieniach zachodzącego słońca się ukazał. Jeden z ostatnich czynnych rumunów w kraju (wszystkie czynne można policzyć na palcach dwóch rąk, czynne rumuny w Orlenie - już tylko na jednej).

Brand new Milwaukee Road SDL39 589 pauses at Bensenvillle, Illinois on November 24, 1972. Following the recent release of the Scaletrains Museum Quality SDL39 in HO scale, there has been some debate as to whether the model rides too high on its trucks. To me, the model passes the eyeball test, because I see a pretty big gap between the frame and the top of the truck sideframe, not including the jack pad. A brand new Union Pacific ES44AC leads a C40-8 and an SD9043MAC west through Elmhurst in May of 2006.

I so wish that I had learned about the branding that was done on a huge ranch on the day I took this photo before it happened instead of after. Then at least there would have been a chance of finding a way to get invited to be there so I could take photos. These horses were there, as was a tall, lanky cowboy who came out of a market after I shot a few photos.
