Yesterday Gary and I went for a drive and to our surprise we cam across a juvenile caracara. It had just left the nest as the mother was still feeding it on the ground. I knew when I first saw it that it was young . Ay that point we had not seen the mother. The feathers were rich in color and certainly not worn as some are when they are adults. I was so grateful that we were in the right place, and the right time to see and capture a few images of this young beautiful caracara.

A male wallaby at my place. This is the dad of a small family that visits near the house each day. The mum and joey are quite relaxed and not much distracts them from the task of eating, but this one is always on guard and a little wary, with a touch of mutual fascination perhaps.
I think we're going to have to name them.

It's been a long time since I took a photo for myself, just for fun and I'm really happy with the result.
First of all happy new year, I wish you all the best in the world and I have faith that this 2022 comes with many beautiful things for everyone after such a painful year for many.
I thank everyone who is concerned about my mom's health, she is doing great! Cancer free thanks to the surgery.

Fisherman's Friend was originally developed by pharmacist James Lofthouse in 1865 to relieve various respiratory problems suffered by fishermen working in the extreme conditions of the Northern deep-sea fishing grounds. Though he developed it as an extremely strong liquid remedy containing menthol and eucalyptus oil, Lofthouse later made the liquid into small lozenges which were easier to transport and administer. According to the manufacturer, the fishermen began to refer to the lozenges as "friends",

In 1861, Charles Francis Hall arrived here, in search of the lost Franklin Expedition. He learned from a local hunter, Koojesse, that this wasn’t the route through the Northwest Passage, and later hired him as his guide.
Francis would later pay tribute to his guide by naming this inlet, which extends Frobisher Bay, Koojesse Inlet when charting the official record of his voyage.

I didn't think I would get to see any lambs this year without really seeking them out. Driving through the Forest this morning we saw four brand new lambs our on one of the commons, with their mothers. Sheep are normally taken in when they are lambing rather than let roam so these were obviously very new as they were so white and their ears weren't clipped. I also saw a foal but wasn't able to stop to photograph it. There will be plenty of time as it is still quite early in the year for them
