PART 2: Prevention as Policy

One of the most significant elements of the ACA is an increased focus on preventive care. How can digital health: 1) help employers score incentives by creating healthier workplaces, 2) create lower-cost diagnostic tools for mandatory free prevention screenings, and 3) continue to support ACOs in their quest to remain accountable? Speakers include: Christopher Wasden, Managing Director, PwC, Dr. Samir Damani, Founder & CEO Cardiology, Genomic & Digital Medicine, MD Revolution, Dr. Richard Migliori, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, UnitedHealth Group, and Marco Peluso, CEO, Qardio, Inc.

Jubiläumsfeier für Lise Meitner

Montag, 15. Oktober 2018 17:00

Ort: Lise-Meitner-Hörsaal, Strudlhofgasse 4, 1. Stock

The Dog Tornado is a popular dog game from Nina Ottosson that requires some brainpower and patience from the dog playing. After the white bones are removed, the layers must be spun (using a nose or paws) in order to find the hidden treats. But, if the dog spins too fast the treats will just zoom on by. Tricky but fun and dogs love finding the hidden treat rewards! Enjoy, ActiveDogToys

Mr. Price and I have both been working so hard lately, both under such harsh deadlines and so strung out with work, and yet... today he still runs out in the rain to the Farmer's Market to get me flowers. Sigh!

Made me all nostalgic tonight, especially after 13 solid hours of edits and discussion of edits turned my brain into little more than a bucket of primordial goo.

I keep meaning to file all the scans of the artistic aspects of the woo packages we sent back and forth before I moved in one place. No time like the present, especially since it takes no brainpower whatsoever and makes me all googly. (All the better, too, since he just came home and is sitting all steamy in the bath!)

Danillo with his 'Boks Ouwe' shirt. Obviously it's a homage to 'Run DMC', but it also refers to a song of the Dutch MC called Brainpower. This photo was taken during our so-called "I (heart) Threadless" photoshoot.

So, today I went to the Lovely Sarah's family Christmas party in Detroit.

I had a great time -- meeting over 30 new people (all of whom hugged me), but boy does that require a lot of brainpower.

Along the way, I decided that it was probably best not to be the crazy new guy running around with a camera. Things didn't wind down until quite late, and this is what I looked like when I finally got a moment of peace and quiet! :D

1348–1900

Septem artes liberales: Was studierte man im Mittelalter?

Your nervous system is as fast as lightning! Accidentally touch a hot stove? Before you even realize it, you have pulled your hand away. Want to kick that soccer ball? Just think about it, and less than a second later you have scored the winning goal. Come learn how sensations are turned into feelings and how ideas are turned into actions. We will use insects to teach you how to engineer the nervous system. Then we'll show you how engineers are using neuroscience to move robotic arms with brainpower and help paralyzed people walk again. (Insects are used in this experiment)

I have no idea what I am writing. I am even thinking of a page-by-page thing, or small bite-sized units, each to be produced as an NFT (non-fungible token), a chunk of text with an image or two, integral to itself, but also part of a larger whole. In short, I have no idea what I am doing, but am sort of determined to at least try to work it out before they come to untie me here, being fastened to the ground still, and all that. It does partially have to do with universal diminished concentration, that wondrous by-product of this worldwide webby thing we are on, plus personal diminished brainpower and memory.

Me thinks you might be getting the last of me grey matter, but what the heck. I will be pushing images around here, with text, but will probably be doing it less and less on Flickr, but who the buggering feck really knows. I could turn hugely needy any second now and spray the whole bloody lot over that site at the drop of me Fedora/Stetson.

Missed the focus a bit here. I've been in need of a project that doesn't require a huge amount of brainpower, math, or spreadsheeting, and one that I can work on while conversing. This is the project I cast on the other night. Taking some chances here and skipping some prep work to ensure the outcome, but I'm ok with that - I figure this little lace section will be my swatch. I'm just enjoying the knitting for the moment.

James' birthday cards evening.

Poker was too daunting a prospect for the assembled brainpower, so we opted for Blackjack instead.

If you've forgotten, Legos are pretty amazing toys. Getting the kids to play with Legos can be a bit of a challenge, but Sophia's starting to like them a lot more. She still likes to follow the instructions in the books, but will make a lot of random stuff with the sets.

After taking this photo, I realized that the Lego movie is coming out today. So I guess this photo is in tribute to the new movie :)

On November 15, 2022, the LBJ Library co-hosted an event with Humanities Texas and the Tom Lea Institute about the remarkable career and even more remarkable strategic vision of Homer Lea. Lea was barred from joining the U.S. Army due to a physical disability yet lent his energy and brainpower to Sun Yat-sen in overthrowing the Manchu Dynasty in China in 1911.

Chase Untermeyer, former United States Ambassador to Qatar and Assistant Secretary of the Navy, spoke about Homer Lea. Adair Margo, founder of the Tom Lea Institute, discussed the interactions of Tom and Sarah Lea with Lady Bird Johnson and President Johnson.

Most of us have experienced conditions such as anxiety, depression, memory problems and trouble focusing. It is not uncommon to believe that these problems are all in our heads. However, in his pioneering new book, "The UltraMind Solution," Mark Hyman, M.D., explains how the real causes of these problems are in your body, and not in your head. By simply addressing the underlying causes of mood, memory and behavior problems you can boost your brain power and have a calm, confident, focused and happy mind.

Anschlussgedanke“
