** This was the final day of our Canadian trip 2019 and the first time we saw the mountains against a clear blue sky. This was taken on the banks of the Bow River in Banff Alberta

For Macro Mondays#ButtonsandBows
I made a small decoration of a button and a bow for Christmas tree.
As always, thank you very much for your visits, comments and faves!
HMM!
This is part of a card I made for a wedding. The bow is very small, less than 1/2 cm on the bride heart. The dickie bow I cut from card for the groom.
The previous image was taken by the parking lot strip. After a few shots I changed lens and walked down to the shore to take some wide angle images.
During our stay in Banff, we went by this lake several times however, only once we were able to see the breathtaking reflection of the mountains, because we came at the right time, when the water was still and clear.
Thank you for your comments,
Gemma

Early morning at Bow Lake in Banff National Park Alberta.
It's been a year since this trip, but it feels like we were just there.
Bow falls is in Banff National Park. The spring thaw has not quite started yet so the water level is quite low. Usually the water level is quite high making a more dramatic falls. I took this in HDR to try and capture more of the shaded canyon walls on the left side.

This week was a challenge for me, I didn't like anything I did, lol. This is a creased bow on my pajamas pocket. : )

We walked from Findochty to Portknockie when we were on holiday in Scotland a few weeks back .....while we were at Portknockie we just had to go round to Bow Fiddle Rock ......a wonderful location

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” Frank Zappa

The Bow river winds through the Alberta foothills onto the prairies where it meets the Oldman River, the two then forming the South Saskatchewan River.
This is a rare shot of Bow Falls from the opposite site from the viewpoint. I made my way down a sketchy trail to a cliff edge to get this shot. 2 shot focus stack. Vlog Below.
A look at Portal Peak and Mount Thompson reflecting off the surface of Bow Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The Bow Glacier, which is part of the Wapta Icefield and is the source of Bow Lake's water, can be seen.
When I moved to the Scottish Highlands a couple of years ago, I vowed to NEVER take a photo of Bow Fiddle Rock. Mainly because there are a hundred trillion photographs of it on the internet and I figured the world really could do without seeing another one.
Well, the problem is, I have no self-discipline. Put a family bag of Maynard's Wine Gums or an enormous Cadbury's Fruit n Nut Bar in front of me and I swear it'll be gone in minutes.
Hence, when I was passing through Portknochie the other day, my self discipline failed me again and I unsurprisingly found myself on Bow Fiddle Beach.
But, don't fear I've given myself a thorough bollocking and I promise never to do it again.....
I was hoping for a little more colour but it was still nice, we had some incredible sunrises this past week but I was always without my camera and a location, I'm glad its the weekend

Beautiful Fall colors at Bow Lake.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
A closer view of this iconic falls basically in Banff township as it rumbles 30 feet over a low-gradient pitch of channeled bedrock.
Different perspectives in comments.
The Bow river begins 60 miles upstream as meltwater from the Bow Glacier, flowing south through Banff en route to the prairies and Hudson Bay far beyond.
The 1953 Marilyn Monroe film River of No Return featured the falls (the actual River of No Return is the Salmon river in Idaho).
Have a wonderful Friday and week ahead.
