“Four things come not back: the spoken word, the sped arrow, the past life and the neglected opportunity.”
Picture taken outside Masoom Store
Was visiting Masoom checking for one of their outfits and noticed the forest outside and decided to take a few pictures. This was one of the last ones after Black Dragon crashed and focused on the beautiful background.

Horse Pose by Mythril...hope I have that correct. I wanted the horse to be free in her own power and strength. Partnered to the rider in trust and mutual respect. Not constrained by reigns or saddle but guided by the rider's legs just so the horse knows where to take her friend (the Rider).

People throughout histoty have fallen in love with their weapons, making them extraordinarily beautiful, like these bows and arrow once used to defend the city fort in Jaisalmer. Rajasthan, India.
After yesterday's pic of the arches of the Balinese penjor, thought I'll continue the arch-theme with this pic of gigantic statues framed by the branch of a tree. The statues could be of the brothers Rama and Lakshmana from the Hindu epic of Ramayana. Taken at the small park on Nusa Gede, one of the two islets of Nusa Dua.

It’s not every day you come across a beautiful elven princess lost in the woods, but when you do, you gotta make sure to protect her so the royals will be lenient when your caught robbing their kingdom.

A large steel silhouette from the 307 First Initiative stands along Highway 20 between Casper and Shoshoni, Wyoming. The western-themed artwork, sponsored by the Wyoming Financial Group (WERCS), depicts a dramatic chase scene—complete with this backward arrow shot from horseback. Part of a growing series of roadside art installations across Wyoming, these sculptures celebrate the State’s history and storytelling traditions.

From Senegal, Africa,
they
were in front of the
Wax Museum on
Hollywood Boulevard, and
looked a little lost
and forlorn, and we fell into
a conversation - and they said
they felt America to be a strange
and unreal place in some ways,
and I explained that they
were in Hollywood, and
that not all of America is like
Hollywood, which is
the capital of the surreal
in many ways - the intersection of
dream and reality -
and here at the wax museum
of all places this is even more so
here in this arcane
temple to movie-stars
mostly of the past
here represented
in life-size wax statues
not unlike Lenin lying in
his tomb still, enshrined,
honored, sanctified.
Instead of Lenin though
we have Marilyn and Chaplin
and Bogie and Darth Vader.
And here, where they are
standing, in the
courtyard,
- there's a life-size
panoply from "The Wizard of
Oz" with the four main characters
plus Toto in wax,
and there is a
Stallone-look-alike who stands
there always
in Rambo-guise,
clutching a faux-machine
gun, and smiling at
and posing with
the ever-flowing stream of
tourists.

I attended the inagural Sherwood Forest Celtic Festival and Highland Games in McDade Texas. This was a wonderful event with lots of beautiful music and interesting characters dressed in Renaissance attire. Of course, you can't have a Celtic Festival without an Archery contest. When I took this shot, I had no idea that I had captured the arrow leaving the bow. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I discovered the capture during post-processing! I'm thrilled with the capture!

Sometimes its funny how things work. I've been looking for a bow and arrow for a while now, and then yesterday I decided to try one last place to get one in my price range. When I arrived they said they were closed and couldn't help anyway because they had no bow and arrow. They told me to try the place down the road that I couldn't miss because of the Bob's Big Boy in the window. Sure enough I found the place, which looked like a hoarders living room. At one point a big pile of metal scrap fell like an avalanche. I asked if they happened to have any bows and arrows, to which they replied that they have several. I got this one for $30, about $200 less than all the others I found, and I'm so happy to have it :-D
Well, that isn't a terribly interesting story, but more just a reminder to myself how happy I was to shoot this picture, and what it means to me. After all, at the end of the day, art is personal, even if the art has nothing to do with you personally. I'm playing a character here, reflecting nothing of my own life into the image, yet this picture means a lot to me. Maybe it isn't even so much the picture itself but the journey I went on to make it. Either way, I'm happy :)
