Spent a beautiful weekend in the Sierras. Hiked to Taft point in Yosemite, as the rain drizzled and the clouds descended on the mountains, while rivers of fog shifted in the valley below. As luck would have it these newlyweds decided to take in the scene just as my shot was composed.

I made a short trip to Cape Cod this Saturday and by chance came across this remote trail in Truro. It started out a as a fire lane and eventually turned into a narrow trail leading all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, which is at the end here. The trail was beyond awesome. I came across just a few other "explorers", some on bike and others walking their dog.
in flight. I know airplane shots are old news, but I have never in my life seen such loveliness from the air. It took my breath away. I definitely belong on the west coast.
Plus, I find it so strange to try to understand how it is that the sun is casting these strange shadows across the ocean. edit: it's the wind. i'm silly.

Boundless Flight by Wandy Cheng
“Boundless Flight takes inspiration from species found in local marshland, such as the Black Willow Tree, cattails, short-eared owls, butterflies, snakes, Black-eyed Susans, Pumpkinseed fish, and turtles. The composition reflects nearby play structures, including splash pads, a baseball diamond, and a soccer field. The flowing design encourages visitors to walk around the perimeter of the container, igniting imaginative interpretations. While sketching for ideas, I was reminded of park days spent lying on the grass, watching the clouds shift, kicking my feet as high as I could on swings, and getting soaked in water fights with friends. I designed the artwork with children’s curiosity in mind to encourage conversations about local species, acting as a pillar for connection.
I hope the artwork captures the essence of play and the energetic spirit of endless summer days at Tobias Mason Park, allowing that brightness to continue radiating through the long winters in anticipation of a new season.”

I'm back in the big chair! Pc is once again spinning in greased grooves. :-)
It's hard to describe my elation upon coming upon this place. the trail rises and makes a sudden left out of the trees and bang, this opens before you. Off to the right is a many tiered water fall, the flowers were starting to bloom, so eager were they that I saw some coming out of snow patches, and the unusual rolling hills were magnificent adorned with Avalanche Lilies and Indian Paint Brush. This is a side of the mountain not normally seen, you gotta work to get over there and it didn't disappoint.

weather permitting I am taking the Puyallup Trail at Glacier View and going to Gobbler's Knob and legs permitting up to pay my respects at the Marine Memorial if anyone wants to go. I'm glad that they created another one for the families now that you have to hike there, but I want to see the original.
……Our 7yr old grandson not me! A local landmark - Lilleshall Hill Monument is my #354 shot of the day today, took Erroll up there whilst Granny was at the hairdressers - I realised today that I’d long passed the days when I used to LET him win!! Alan:-)

Karen looks out over Badwater Basin from a knoll in Artist's Palette area, Death Valley National Park.
The immense scale of this park, not to mention the time scale it took to create, is awe inspiring. It is one of the most spectacular landscapes i have seen in my travels. Before i ever visited i imagined Death Valley as just a hot place of emptiness with no redeeming value. I have been here three times now and always find something i haven't seen that amazes me.
