Þingvellir (Icelandic: About this sound [ˈθiŋkˌvɛtlɪr̥] (help·info)), anglicised as Thingvellir,[Note 1] is a national park in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, about 40 km northeast of Reykjavík. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological importance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.[2] ( source Wikipedia)

At a critical angle on this desert playa, rain water begins to flow toward a lower level and carves channels of increasing depth through salt crystals that have risen from below. The process leaves behind tree-like patterns of artistic beauty.

This is the "Big Tree" that stretches out 1.5 miles from the lower level.

A cricket match was in full swing at one end of the estate. The batsman has clouted the latest delivery to the boundary. The sheep in the prime position to watch seem pretty unimpressed.

Happy Fence Friday!!

Boundaries help us to distinguish our property so that we can take care of it. They help us to "guard our heart with all diligence." We need to keep things that will nurture us inside our fences and keep things that will harm us outside. -- Henry Townsend

Clearwater Lake at the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

The River Tamar forms the boundary between Cornwall and Devon. Rising only 4 miles from Bude and the Atlantic Ocean, it flows south, slowly at first, for nearly 50 miles to the English Channel. In its middle reaches the River Tamar winds its way through steep wooded country. The inter-tidal systems are perfect for mudflats and saltmarshes, the reed beds and woodlands providing a haven for birds and butterflies as well as rare lichen and orchids.

At the mouth of the Tamar, on the Devon side, there is the port city of Plymouth, and Devonport Dockyard. This is where there is a potential clash between industry and naval interests on the one hand, and the environment on the other. But the two have co-existed for centuries and the Tamar-Tavy Estuary and the Lynher Estuary are both protected Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

I heard a thud...and there it was on my doormat, my new book had arrived. The Peak district boundary walk is a 190 mile walk around the edge of the national park..At our slow pace it should take us a year to walk [ in sections]...No hurry....Roll on next sunday, when we can get started.

You got to be careful after going through this gate as it the trackbed of world famous snowdon mountain railway.

Early sun heated the sea to produce mist.

field boundaries brought to life with a sprinkling of snow

Seven degrees and sun made this a super walk

Photo taken just above ground-level at night in the rain. Headlamp directed at the barrier created dramatic reflections of the signs.
