At night, the Saône flows peacefully through dark Lyon. The lights of the illuminated houses on its banks are reflected in the mirror-smooth surface due to the long exposure.
Just pause for a moment, enjoy the moment. The long exposure time gives these moments.

I just never knew what to do with street photography. I always took some street photos and then thought they were just boring and blah and gave up on them. I now have a newfound vision for this genre. Let's see where it takes me.

Slowly Lyon wakes up on this somewhat cool but beautiful spring morning in April. Arrived yesterday, the city beckons to be explored with this great view from the hotel window. Getting up and breakfast can hardly go fast enough to start discovering the city in all its glory.
And because the "big" camera was still asleep in the bag and it hurried, again a picture taken with my iPhone XR has slipped here in my photostream.

Lyon is not quite so flat, although many sights are easily accessible on foot and without major climbs, but for one or the other view is still a hill to climb. Or you take the bus, but then miss every now and then a view over the city. These make the climb worthwhile.
Like here after a long and steep staircase the view over the city and the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

Even though at first glance it looks a bit like the distant Eiffel Tower, it is not at all. It's just the pillar of the Passerelle du Palais de Justice in Lyon. Photographed through two pillars at the entrance to the Palais de Justice, and above it arches a wonderfully blue, but also somewhat boring sky.

Enjoying our new home, the light and the cats being pretty. What better way to spend an afternoon working on some images of our besties ;-)

I had a great day assisting Yvette Antoinette Photography at her awesome workshop and even managed to snap a few pics myself of the very talented Elyseofendrion in one of Yvette’s setups.
I couldn’t resist playing with these pixels and make her into a bride of Dracula
Venturing into some UVIVF photography and just had a blast trying to shoot images in pitch dark balancing one UV light in one hand and trying to focus and press the shutter in the other hand ;-) Didn't yet get my results but I did get some weird photo's to play with.
Here I combined some blue UV images with a "normal" lit image and using blend modes I managed to extract some fine details in the withering petals.
adding some BorisFX grading and an Oniric glow for extra otherworldly drama
sometimes from chaos a pattern emerges.
Our new home and new workspace is coming along slowly, and surely my brain is letting in creative thoughts again. I haven’t created a lot lately and getting back into the flow of it can be overwhelming sometimes. Just the sheer thought of putting in the work can make me stop before I even begin. It must be an ADHD thing.
But everything starts with small steps. I have my camera closely, working from home, and watching the cats play in the beautiful winter light.
So I take breaks from work, just to watch, explore, enjoy, capture.
From there I just let my mind wander on the photo’s; nothing is set, nothing “needs” to be made, just doodling, just experimenting.
And as it happened I chatted with Shoo Mars Rae (@marinovitch) about their process, and tried to put that in this image. Followed by reading the latest post by @renee on the importance of chasing brain squirrels. I just had to make this, for fun, for me, for reconnecting with my craft.
I love digital doodling, you should give it a try.
A dash of @BorisFXoptics to spice it up
