Not quite what I expected from Hay-on-wye ! But in keeping with the season. Books galore and a wonderful lunch too .
I love my kindle and it's quite practical for reading but going to a bookshop will always be fascinating.

Established in 1947, The Haunted Bookshop is Vancouver Island’s oldest bookshop. Described in ‘Beautiful British Columbia’ magazine as ‘the sort of antiquarian bookstore bibliophiles dream about’,
The Haunted actually caters to recreational readers wanting recent paperbacks and scholars seeking out-of-print material, as well as to collectors of rarities. Its carefully chosen stock includes books on most subjects, as well as unique ephemeral items, maps and prints.

What a fantastic treasure house! A family business for a hundred years and the oldest bookshop in the north of England.
An excellent bookshop near New Market in Calcutta. All the books in English - but 90% of the customers are Indian.

Chair on loan to promote new book: 'The Girl with the Louding Voice' by Abi Daré
Definitely my favourite bookshop. It occupies three floors of an eighteenth century building. There are books literally everywhere - up the stairs, piled up on the table - no surface escapes except a few seats and computer keyboards. And a few pathways - you can get up the stairs is you are fit and find your way past the piles of books. It makes buying books the fun and exciting experience it should be.
