While having a walk at dawn with my mother - the weather's cloudy gray and soft windy - she plucked this beauty and came to me and said, "look, how beautiful this is". And she hold it in her hand and I took the pictures. This is the only flower in the mini bouquet today.
The white roses in their own mornings have beauty so exceptional than anything else.
📚 I've finished reading Wuthering Heights last night, which kept me awake till 1 am. What a story. It kept me hooked and I couldn't rest till I finally reached the end. Also, my mind was blowing with all the ups and downs and the tensions within the story, and it has such characters. Which novel do you think I should try also?

As the whole 2024 had its ups and downs,
my heart so longed for winter, knew it has to come, the nature aligned with the lives and gave us storms every now and then. and then, just as I wanted, it came, Alhamdulillah :)
I'd like to give an account of whatever happened and why I couldn't come here much -
the yr kinda started with row in a family matter
I was depressed a whole January, mostly bedridden and while missing many classes in the toughest year
I wasn't allowed to sit for some of my exams (and attended altogher later which worsened my health at the end)
there was a fire that in my building during vacation when everyone was out but I didn't go, so I caught it first saving from the spread but later got busted instead
I fell in love for the first time
I had been in love with whatever I was doing during free times, attended many surgeries.
the country had issues and we had to fight in the hospital during casualty days. I was homeless for some time and stayed with some friends and in the hospital.
I got my heart broken so many little times.
I've been bullied by toxic people in profile ground too, facing how professional life is for the first time, which worsened my health again.
I made many good friends and well-wishers too.
I learnt many skills while couldn't attend exams, so it wouldn't go to waste.
I think at the same time I was ahead of the curve and got lost.
So many in and around my life judged me and got me wrong too. Lastly I got into fight with many due to my temper and attacks, but also made amends as much as I could.
I read some great books - When breathe becomes air (written by dying neurosurgeon that I'd recommend every doc and patients to read), Man's search for meanings(written by a concentration camp survivor psychiatrist), some stories of Edgar Allan Poe, Metamorphosis, currently The midnight library.
Long story short, I survived :)
Now attending exams but weren't up to my satisfaction, and still in love :)
Winter has warmed my soul
Send my some prayers so I get rid of health issues soon, and get through these exams.

That is in fact the name of the book (not the Katie part, of course), and if you're at all interested in history, it's worth picking up and perusing. As you know, I myself enjoy various crafts, but this particular book gave me an increased appreciation for such things—particularly quilts (though I blame the hideous busyness and lack of concern for any semblance of cohesiveness in 1980s quilts for this) and, of all things, decoys. The latter can be quite the work of art indeed!
Not long after finishing this delightful look at things Americans have long made with our hands, I stumbled across a few dozen old decoys at Heart of Ohio, and that "new appreciation" really came in handy, as yours truly had a fuller understanding of what she was looking at and what went into creating them.
"America's Traditional Crafts" also covers things like pottery of all kinds, scrimshaw and leatherwork, the beadwork and quill work of Native Americans (amazing), rugs, baskets, tin...all of it. Perhaps best of all, this is actually the kind of book you can repeatedly, happily pick up and flip through to enjoy. It's big—maybe 16x14ish?—and the photos are fabulous. Suddenly I have several new financially dangerous interests in life.
By Robert Shaw, this is a highly recommended book—and if you do not trust me, you know you can trust Katie. ;) No one is paying me to say this—I brought it home from a downpour-day meander through an antiques mall in North Carolina a year or so ago (well, based on the date, two or so years ago—vintage Katie day, y'all) and am *so* glad I stumbled across it. Again, if you like history (which seems to be a lot of you) or genuinely handmade things, you're probably going to enjoy this one.
And again, Katie loves the book, too. You cannot go wrong. ;)

Starting my day by reading the newspaper, having breakfast, and checking out the ODC of the day on my favorite very old sofa.
Did you know that the "sopha" wasn't introduced until about 1750 by Chippendale. According to Bill Bryson's book "At Home", "Sofas were 'daring, even titillating, because they resembled beds and so hinted at salacious repose." I'm loving his book and it's very rare for me to read anything but fiction. Just sayin'.

Crispin, 15, starts off as a homeless orphan living in a car. He’s half Korean and bisexual, and is always getting bullied. He loves bands like ADTR and struggles with controlling his anger. Crispin loves to write but finds it difficult to write anything more than a few pages. He has heterochromia and ADHD.
Eden, 16, was a foster kid until he ran away at the age of 10. He loves to paint and is always getting it all over his clothes. He refuses to wear anything that isn’t black and is a very friendly though slightly uptight kid. Eden is gay, loves bands like Famous Last Words, and has a deep dark secret. He is left handed.
They start out slow as friends and I think their relationship is cute because of it. They have goofy nicknames for each other and are supportive, but not afraid to call each other out on things, which I love.

If you liked "Three Cups of Tea"...and even if you have not read that very interesting and popular book...this is another one that will add to your knowledge about a nearby area.
This one is the account of a walk across Afghanistan... by a young Scot, Rory Stewart...who now lives in that country...at least part time...One report I read however, indicates that he will run as an MP in the 2010 British election.

i've read several of the books, and the list of film suggestions is precious.
i've kept the list (stashed away in a pile of papers found in a box) as a reminder, both of the gesture (the person felt compelled to augment my education with this new curriculum) but also of the wonderful works on the list itself. borges, john kennedy o'toole, nabokov have all had dominant roles in my late night reading life since then, and withnail and i, obscured in this image, has become one of my most cherished film experiences.
rilke was already on the radar, burroughs had already been consumed... i own a copy of several works by pynchon but have not yet afforded myself the time or indulgence to really delve into his world - and jerzy kozinksi leaves behind the memory of a brilliant and sad satirist.
beneath the list is a set drawing from a commercial that i did back in 1995 in los angeles.
i'll keep these items - and one day they might make it into a scrapbook. for now, they go back into a box which goes into a storage space in a basement in copenhagen - and will likely be unearthed in a few year's time.
