For "Looking close... on Friday!" the theme: "Bokeh Only".
I had fun playing with this theme... trying to make a photo of my little elephant made of blue and white beads standing on shiny green paper, both in bokeh.
This is the result, not completely satisfied though.
I wish I had had a Helios lens for this challenge (really love that bokeh, it gives), but I haven't... I guess that's life, isn't it?......dealing with what you got and still be happy and keep having dreams ;-))
Have a lovely start of your weekend and a very happy Friday ^_^
With no real snow to look at and only rain and mud outside, I thought I'd create a little snow storm with blowing bokeh. Perhaps the snow is blowing over a snow fence on a blustery Winter day. Perhaps not, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. If you view the image large you'll see a few different bokeh styles, each unique as a snowflake. There was a focal plane to this image but it was cropped out in favor of this bokeh abstraction. I created this image along with "Snowing Gold" but put it aside in favor of an image with some focus. I also wanted to see how it would look in B&W. It was starting to look like this pic might get stuck in flickr limbo, who knew this theme would come up!!

For the group, "Looking close... on Friday!", Theme: "Bokeh Only".
Sometimes there is only bokeh and no subject. I keep these odd findings in a special folder. Today's theme for the group Looking close on Friday inspired me to share.
My attempt at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "Bokeh Only".

Looking Close On Friday: "Bokeh Only" theme
It's bokeh from a small section of lights on a Christmas tree exposed for 13 seconds in an otherwise dark room while the camera was intentionally moved.

For Looking Close... on Friday!'s #bokeh only theme
Once again, those Miracle Moderators have managed to read my mind and tapped into an idea that I'd been thinking about for a while. So I had to use some magic of my own to create an extra hour in the day and make sure I got my shot sorted for this theme!
If you're interested, the texture here is created in the camera image itself (but not by the camera as such), and isn't added post-production. It's a similar idea to using card with a shaped aperture (e.g. a star, or heart) in front of the lens to create shaped bokeh, which I've tried once reasonably un/successfully. But it's not quite the same.
I'm slightly annoyed by the blue haze. Need to work out where the came from and how I can stop it happening again... I'd also be interested to see what this looks like in greyscale.
But, well, for my first experiment, I'm quite chuffed with the result :-)
Happy New Year, everyone :-)

Looking Close... on Friday: Bokeh only.
I had some lovely bokeh pictures I'd taken (South Korean markets & beach and Marrickville trees) but most were not even close to macro so I took some more in the garden ... I like them but I still love the vibrancy of Christmas lights bokeh so I cropped this one some more. Hope it's close enough.
