We made a quick trip to Rocky Mountain National Park the past couple of days. Just before sunset on our first day we spotted this bobcat. This was a first for me.

Looking for my backyard squirrels.

This is one of several bobcats that live at Sweetwater wetlands Park in West Tucson Arizona. They are a fairly common site at the park, and are quite indifferent to the presence of people. Sweetwater is a series of ponds that are fed by treated wastewater from the city of Tucson. Apparently a large part of these cats diet consists of the water fowl that reside on the ponds. I have heard several first hand accounts of people that have seen these cats with coots and ducks that they have caught. Several years back I walked up to one of the viewing platforms on one of the ponds where there was a very excited couple. They told me that five minutes before I showed up a bobcat had jumped out from the reeds on the bank of the pond onto a duck and drug it back onshore and into the reeds.

Was waiting to tee of on a golf course when this Bobcat came out of the bush beside our tee box and sat down. Was one of the most memorable moments in all the years that I have been taking photos. Posted this image earlier and just realized it was posted as private, just changed to public.

This is a "trained" Bobcat which I photographed at the Triple D Game farm in Kalispell, Montana. Although it looks a bit like a studio shot it was just up against a very cold snow bank.

Looking for my backyard squirrels

The bobcat came out of the marsh and trotting down the path. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I kneeled down to get to eye level and stayed on the shutter button. It was my second similar experience and just as exciting as the first!

I saw this beautiful wild bobcat this past June. So exciting to see!

Have a great weekend!

Massive 61MP details of Sony 7RM4 and Yes, it took a lot of HD space too.

Poor mom! I wanted to get closer but I did not want to disturb what was going on here. Such a treat to watch!

Thanks so much for the visit!

Mom bobcat. Those eyes will probably be a problem for her one day.

Thanks so much for the visit!

Thanks so much for the visit!

I imagine this mother Bobcat hit the water to capture this large Iguana. Here she is pausing on her walk back to the family.

This bobcat was stalking some turkey. The group turkey saw him and flew up into a tree.

Since I don't have any toys, I'll just play with mom's tail!

Thanks so much for the visit!

The little one was trying to get mom to play. This is another family from the pix I posted earlier. I'm so blessed to see both families.

My photography success has been lacking in recent months, but was lucky to photograph not one, but two bobcats over the weekend in New Hampshire.

Just got lucky this morning.. It happened pretty fast..I had just walked into the entrance and was looking for warblers. I noticed something looked different in the big tree behind the firebush on the right...two bobcats were laying on a limb.. I quickly tried to focus and realized my settings were all wrong. They were getting up...I made a few changes and starting clicking away. They climbed down the tree and went back into the woods. Thanks for stopping by.

I came across this very young Bobcat the other day while I was driving. I thought it was a house cat at a quick glance because it was so small. A first juvenile for me which was exciting. This was taken during the last hour of light. Click for large view,

Had such close encounters with several bobcats last time in northern California...shortly after i took this shot this bobcat went to sleep just in front of me...

I traveled all the way from Florida to California in a failed attempt to photograph Bobcats. We, of course, have them in Florida. Recently, a family of Bobcats has taken up residence at a local wildlife refuge, and as such, is more tolerant of humans than would otherwise be the case. I only had a few days to try to get some images any only got lucky twice on several attempts. This one's my favorite.

I was photgraphing a Hawk perched in a tree above when this Bobcat ran right in front of me. It paused for a few moments before entering the tall grass in pursuit of a rabbit. A few minutes later, the rabbit came out and the Bobcat remerged even closer to me. By the time I switched back from the Hawk to the Bobcat, I only photographed the back of its head that second time around.

A female bobcat on an early morning stroll! Such beautiful creatures, never get tired of seeing them…Northern California

Looks like this male bobcat has a bad temper but it was just facing the heavy winds that evening… Northern California

I couldn't believe my luck when this cat decided to climb up this small snag and sit for a better view of the area. Amazingly some of the afternoon light was still shining through the trees and lit up this beauty for a few moments.

Bobcat is all wet this morning.

The more I looked at the image I posted of the Bobcat with the Iguana the more I wanted to present a different look. I wanted to keep all of the Iguana's body and claws but after further reflection felt that they distracted from the eyes of the creatures, my favorite part of the image. So here's a more closely cropped version, sans claws but to me more intimate and compelling.

Had an incredible time with this female bobcat one morning this spring. I was with her for more than an hour (and thousands of shots of course). With the spring colors in the front, that was my favorite setting this morning. Northern California

I’ve seen many bobcats over the years but this one was the one with the most beautiful coat! Usually their fur is kind of grey, brown or red sometimes with pattern or rosettes…I didn’t get a look from this cat this time but it was a very special encounter!!! Northern California

One of these magic encounters with a female bobcat at dusk. Just heard the news that Point Reyes NPS decided to continue with their plan to extend ranching and industrial agriculture inside the park and therefore is going to kill hundreds of native tule elk! The effects on all other wildlife will be terrible!!! Hope that there is still a chance of protecting this unique place…KEEP POINT REYES WILD

Another shot of a female bobcat i met a couple months ago, Point Reyes, CA

This Bobcat has been hanging out around the backyard, looking for a squirrel lunch, for a couple of months. Getting a little too comfortable around me.
