Well, indeed. Because this chip has in fact never seen me typing a PIN number at an Automated Teller Machine (and neither has it seen such a machine from the inside). My bank had accidentally issued that debit card, so I only ever got as far as signing it. I'd decided to keep the card for a possible future use for a Macro Monday theme, however, and that future is now.
At first I went for the chip's frontside. I'd noticed that the lines on the chip are actually kind of engraved, so I held a torch right behind the chip to see if backlighting would achieve anything. It did, the lines were glowing in a lovely electric blue tone, and I'd also discovered that there were some letters printed on the chip, like a secret message (that, so far, I've failed to decipher). So I took a few nicely abstract images of the chip's front side, but then I started wondering if backlighting the back side of the chip might yield an even more interesting result. I think it did, and this is what you can see here. The glow pattern that emerged looks like a graphic character to me, and I wish it would mean Peace.
The setup was really simple, card fixated with two clamps, put on a weighty tome to achieve the right shooting position, camera placed directly in front of it, torch held directly behind the chip, one soft light placed right above the tome and card. I've taken images both with the 60mm macro lens plus extension tubes and the 30 mm macro lens without extension tubes (as it has a 2,5x magnification). The images turned out all very similar, only the amount of glow of the lines varied due to the angle of the handheld torch, and this photo had the best colours and contrast. Processed in DXO PL5 and Lightroom where I've slightly enhanced the colours (namely with LR's Primary sliders for red, green and blue).

What is happening in Ukraine is beyond horrific, and I pray that some kind of peace agreement can be reached soon. Since sunflowers are the national flower, and blue and yellow are the colors of the flag, I invite everyone to add their photos of sunflowers or blue and yellow images to show support for Ukraine.

Let me first tell you that I like the colours in this photo: the yellow daffodils, the white chapel and the blue of the little gate - let's hope yellow and blue get peace soon!
The little chapel is in the Flemish Oostkerke, in the lane to the castle. On it there is a notice saying: "In memory of the 25th anniversary of the Union of Farmer's Wives - 1911-1936". This Union, "De Boerinnenbond" played a very important role in the lives of farmer's wives.

The wall behind the Soviet War Memorial on Schwarzenbergplatz in Vienna was painted blue and yellow on 28 February in solidarity with Ukraine, the victim of the criminal invasion by fascist Russia. This action was instigated by the owners of the property behind the monument, the Schwarzenberg family, and was therefore perfectly legal.
Schwarzenberg is the name of a Franconian-Bohemian noble family that provided many influential statesmen at the imperial Habsburg court in Vienna. The current head of the family, Karel Schwarzenberg ( * 10 December 1937 in Prague), was Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic in 2007-2009 and 2010-2013.
The Russian embassy reacted to this action with the cynicism typical of fascist regimes, writing: "Let it serve as a reminder to all Ukrainians and Austrians that Russians and Ukrainians fought heroically against the Nazi scum in the Red Army, shoulder to shoulder." Thus, they imply that the current so-called "special military operation" in Ukraine is again directed against Nazis, a narrative that is at the core of the brainwashing programme to which the Russian population is subjected. Unfortunately, we are dealing more and more with brainwashed zombies from Russia, but also from Serbia, for example.
