A simple landscape capture at Ferry Meadows recreational park. The view is from one of the many bridge walkways that cross the Nene River. The sky was bright but the shadows were long on the waterside so wanted to capture some darkness and atmosphere contrasting the brightness of the sky and the sunshine on the banks of the river. .

...Something

Guys, obviously I had no idea whatsoever for this theme. A dancing tree? Maybe. Maybe just very thin slices of paper twisted around... This same "thing" also served for a "Bad Hair Day" version (an outtake; I'm not sure if I will upload it).

Please don't be too hard on me ;-). HMM everybody!

Marvelously bright weather in Kuala Lumpur this morning with azure blue skies and those great fluffy Cumulus Clouds. The Sun's Bright Light today caused the natural phenomenon of a Blue Shadow which can sometimes also be seen in very cold climes with a bright Winter sun on amazingly white snow. Usually, of course, shadows are Black.

This Dragonfly's Blue Shadow is not caused by its own Indigo Color. Rather the Very White Sunlight is blocked by Trithemis and the shadow is 'colored' by indirect light and the Blue from the Azure Sky. If you look carefully, you can see the same kind of Blue edging the non-Dragonfly shadow in the lower lefthand corner of this photo.

This, by the way, is Indigo Dropwing, Trithemis festiva; it has other names as well, for example, Black Stream Glider, because often it appears more black or dark purple in less bright weather. Sony came upon it along the little stream that runs through the Heliconia Garden of the Lake Gardens, Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur.

macro mondays - sharp

Omfamna vintern... For the light and the blue shadows, for rime and cold bright mornings, for the joy of skiing and to hear the snow squeak under the feet, for the ease of the eyes... För ljuset och de blå skuggorna, för rimfrost och kalla klara mornar, för glädjen att åka skidor och höra snön knarra under fötterna, för ögonens välbehag...

It was a gorgeous crisp morning in Boise Idaho when I snapped this shot two years ago on this day. I was fascinated by the red berried tree outside our hotel.

Ice cover on the Great Lakes has dropped from nearly 90% at the end of February to almost 55%. Last year it wasn't until June that the lakes were free from ice. This is the second record breaking year for ice cover. It's very dangerous to go out on the ice at the end of March as the ice retreats.

To begin with, I did not really do anything to the shadow. I enhanced it a bit yes.... but it was blue from the get go.

Happy Fence Friday

My stats do seem to be fixed although some days are still out of whack.

The #MacroMondays theme for 5/13 is charm. Bracelets, necklaces, wine glasses, keychains - am figuring any ornamentation is fair game, as long as it’s small. Loved the blue shadow on this one! And it’s blue (surprise, surprise) and sparkly (more surprise)!… will include the size verification in a bit. It's a bit over 3cm

By the way, I dithered a bit between this and the Dutch clog

…….💙 HMM 💙

I was out in the snow for about two hours yesterday and was excited about the shots I took. However, in downloading, I somehow managed to lose almost all of them. Still don't know what I did wrong. Bummer

Hart Fell as seen from Garelet Hill in the Southern Uplands. There is some cold shadowy spots on the old gal. I love the blues of winter.

A photo that I took in 2016 with a 720nm infrared filter and a Fujifilm X100S. I only now got around to working on a color version of the photo, using the split-tone feature of Lightroom -- producing a much better result than the old BW version, particularly in the depiction of light. Hand-held. The X100S doesn't have an internal IR filter, so it doesn't need conversion for use in IR. Just add an external IR filter.

29th June 2020:

While I was playing around to get my MM photo I started looking at the light, shadows and the blue bottle cap, which was on some light blue stiff paper.

Just like how this came out.

Today is : International Day of the Tropics - nationaldaycalendar.com/international-day-of-the-tropics-...

And for the Silly News it's : National Camera Day - nationaldaycalendar.com/days-2/national-camera-day-june-29/

Not so silly, because without one we couldn't do the One a Day challenge. 📷

Or : National Waffle Iron Day. - nationaldaycalendar.com/days-2/national-waffle-iron-day-j...

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

The longer i look at this, it becomes an optical illusion of sorts. i see the stripes as bars, although the blue actually shadow.
