The temperature is hovering around freezing as A2 Pacific No.60532 'Blue Peter' heads a Steam Dreams special from Edinburgh past Crawford in the Upper Clyde Valley.
It's amazing what you can construct using an old Half Crown of 1951 vintage, and a few Polo mints .... it's a bit like "Blue Peter" .... "you know a couple of old toilet rolls .... other bits and bobs .... then suddenly you get a lovely Robot, or Aircraft, or something else .... Ha, ha."

A little information about the value of this English coinage.
One English Half Crown coin was valued at two shillings and sixpence .... equivalent to one eighth of a pound.
20 old shillings were equivalent to one English pound.
40 old sixpence coins were equivalent to one English pound.

A recent trip down to the Quays to show Paul a.k.a. shutterbug_uk2012 the sights as well as meetup with my shooting partner – Eddie ‘Rainman’ Coulson. More about catching up than shooting for me, but I hope Paul managed a few more frames than I did. the This pano is about the only decent image I managed all evening.
Unfortunately the beautiful morning sunshine had been replaced by the advancing blanket of cloud from the east as Ex LNER A2 60532 "Blue Peter" accelerates away from it's signal check at New Mills South Junction hauling the Hereford to York leg of "The White Rose" on September 26th 2025.
Class A2 60532 "Blue Peter" makes its first climb of Shap incline since 2001, with the Lakelander tour train from LLandudno to Carlisle on April 5th 2025.. Here seen passing Greenholme.

Ex LNER class A2 no. 60532 'Blue Peter' approaches Hathersage in the Derbyshire Hope Valley on 20th November 2024 heading 1Z82, the LSL 'Christmas White Rose' from Rugby to York, steam hauled from Crewe.
47593 "Galloway Princess" is seen approaching Cart Lane Foot Crossing, nr Grange-over-Sands along with 60532 "Blue Peter" on the rear working the 3Z32 07:04 Carlisle Upperby Tmd Lsl to Barrow-in-Furness on the 12th September 2025.

60532 'Blue Peter' passes through Stenson Junction at Findern and heads back to Crewe H.C. after tyre tuning at Toton on October 17th 2024.
With blue skies and sunshine for the occasion, it is almost a quarter of a century since the last last mainline runs of Peppercorn A2 'Blue Peter'.
60532 looks in fine form as it heads north from Penrith with "The Lakelander" railtour. A matching set of carmine and cream stock rather helped with the early British Railways image.
The train would return south via the Cumbrian Coast route later the same day,
5th April 2025.
Due to Network Rails instructions to pair all Steam Tours with a diesel and the diesel to do all the hard work especially over gradients due to the fire risk ‘The Lakelander’ 1Z31 06:08 Rugby - Carlisle was hardly working as she climbed over Shap. As can be seen in this picture of 60532, 47593 was doing the lions share of the work passing Greenholme, not the display i was hoping for but still great to see Blue Peter.

I was cycling the Preston Guild Wheel the other day with a couple of friends and as we cycled over the railway bridge at Farington Junction we came across a group of waiting railway enthusiast's all with cameras at the ready. On investigation we discovered that this steam train "Blue Peter" was about to leave Preston so stopped for a couple of shots ourselves. This is the best I could achieve with my phone held precariously through the steel barrier fencing.

A valued image from what turned out to be an epic driving day. We had driven up from the South West for a train on the S&C only to find when we arrived at our chosen location that the train had been cancelled. Knowing that the A2 was running on the NYMR we decided to drive across and managed to get this. A long drive home again followed, Peter Doel going back to Teignmouth.
