Taken in North Holland - Grafelijkheidsduinen.

The area was used to extract drinking water. When this stopped in 1982, a beautiful area with dune lakes arose. Now the area is managed by Landscape North Holland. In the part that is closed off, Highland cattle and Konik horses are kept. The walking and biking trails in the area are freely accessible.

We cannot pluck a flower without disturbing a star.” ..... Whatever the mood or the circumstance, the essence of its quality may linger in the silence that follows.

The wonders of Mother's Nature and it's pure beauty to shine out its love; which is all around us to see from the elegance, that can be achieved when all that is superfluous has been discarded and the human being discovers simplicity and concentration: the simpler and soberer the posture, the more beautiful it will be.

This sweet flower is known to be Ohio Spiderwort(Widows Tears/Bluejacket) and I just loved the way it popped out its gorgeous colour of dazzling purplish-blue, and its cool yellow tears to me here!

Many thanks to you here, for your cool comments and compliments, my cool flickr friends !!!

This is a type of Spiderwort found in central Florida, tradescantia ohiensis.

This wildflower is very adaptable and can be found in the Midwest along woodland borders, meadows near woods, and roadside ditches.

This photo mysteriously disappeared from my Photostream today so I am reposting to have a record of it. Thanks for your visits, faves and comments!

Ohio Spiderwort, or bluejacket spiderwort, is a native plant about 2 feet tall. The plant blooms from May to July. The light violet to blue-violet flowers open up during the morning and close by the afternoon in sunny weather, but remain open longer on cloudy days. When picked, the stem oozes a clear, slimy juice. The name spiderwort is reported to have come from its use as a cure for spider bites.

I was in the garden yesterday and I saw these Spiderworts spread like wild fire, I need to dig them out and leave just one.

Spiderwort is also edible leaves can be used in Salads or Tea.

Very invasive.

Tradescantia ohiensis, commonly known as bluejacket[1] or Ohio spiderwort, is an herbaceous plant species in the genus Tradescantia native to eastern + central North America.

Distinguishing features of the species include glaucous leaves and stems, leaves forming an acute angle with the stems, sepals with hairs lacking glands which are confined to the apex if present at all, and a relatively tall habit (up to about 115 cm). Typical habitats for the plant include roadsides, along railroads, and in fields and thickets. Less typically it can occur in woods, and sometimes along streams. As with many species in the genus, it often forms hybrids with related species where they co-occur.

The Ohio Spiderwort, aka Bluejacket, blooms late spring through midsummer, during the early part of the day. I captured this beautiful blue wiildfower at the Shaw Nature Reserve.

"The Lone Sailor", a statue located in Wisconsin Square, Norfolk, Virginia. This statue is an exact replica of the famous Lone Sailor Statue created by sculptor Stanley Bleifeld to grace the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Lone Sailor is a symbolic figure, a U.S. Navy Bluejacket representing everyone who has served, is serving now, and who is yet to serve in the United States Navy.
