BACKSTORY: Got up around 6:20AM, made it out driving by 7:35 and went out until 12:20 for a total of 5.5 hours. Spent $87.60 plus ~$2.93 gas for 48.8 miles of driving (36.9 mpg @ $2.22/G), for a total cost of $90.54. We drove to 27 yard sales, stopping at 26 (96%) of them. We made 32 purchases (81 items) for a total estimated value of $686.57, leading to a profit/savings of $598.97. So in essence, we multiplied our $87.60 investment by 7.83. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $682.74 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $598.97 in cash that we saved. How long does $682.74 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 5.5 hrs we spent here?). Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $119.79/hr as a couple or $59.90/hr per person.

Spent $67.75 plus ~$4.42 gas for 53.5 miles of driving (30.6mpg @ $2.53/G), for a total cost of $72.17. We drove to 22 yard sales, stopping at 15 (68%) of them. We made 23 purchases (26 items) for a total estimated value of $259.71, leading to a profit/savings of $187.54. So in essence, we multiplied our $72.17 investment by 3.6. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $213.77 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $187.54 in cash that we saved. How long does $187.54 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 03:35 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* wage of $37.51/hr as a couple or $18.75/hr per person.
