Miracle. There really is no other word to describe it. Massive and monstrous hurricane Milton would have decimated the Tampa region. But the eye wall collapsing when and where it did, and landfall being slightly south, made the difference. There’s only a few miles gap in landfall between experiencing some new wind damage added to Helene’s destructive damages vs our homes being destroyed and inundated.

Thankfully Milton is missing from this moment. So grateful. Magnificent. Morning. Miracle.

T-12: Grateful For This Dream Home Of 12 Years 6AM Today, Day Of Hurricane Milton Strike - IMRAN™

As with Hurricane Helene, I knew there was nothing my worrying about the far worse Hurricane Milton would achieve. I said a prayer of gratitude for having lived in this fantasy even more than just dream home for a dozen years, and went bed.

After waking up I took my German Shepherd K2 for a walk. Returning past homes of all the neighbors who had evacuated, I was again so thankful for this home. I noticed that the whole new inside paint colors of just 2 weeks ago were gleaming in the dark night.

It will be what it will be. It has been an amazing home. God willing it will remain so. At 6 AM I could see the hurricane track could spare us serious damage. But it could also be an unsurvivable event. Power outages would make staying there very unproductive.

That’s why, much that I would have loved to stay until tonight to witness this hurricane of the century firsthand, I also had my car ready and garage door open to leave when I knew it would be sensible to.

I’m so grateful for all your kind thoughts, and loving prayers, gently exhorting me to evacuate. Some of you beautiful darlings surprised and melted me with your private messages and gifts of love.

I believe the time and place of our date with the grim reaper are pre-ordained. People escaping storms can die on the road trying to get away from the risk of injury. But it also doesn’t mean doing nothing to be safe or just being more stupid than is absolutely necessary. 😊

There’s only a few degrees difference between a turn of good luck and a tragic twist of fate. I write my own destiny, but I do not tempt fate. Love and gratitude.
